VGI-Bench: Probing Visual Intelligence in Video Generation Models

    摘要:

Recent studies suggest that video generation models can exhibit certain forms of zero-shot visual reasoning through generated frames. Yet reliable evaluation remains challenging: benchmarks should adopt inputs aligned with the visual priors of current video models, require valid evolving processes rather than only plausible final states, and calibrate task difficulty to remain challenging yet partly feasible. To this end, we introduce VGI-bench, containing 27 tasks and 810 instances, organized by a two-level taxonomy of task domains and skill tags for fine-grained evaluation of visual reasoning capabilities of video generation models. Our evaluations show that current generative systems can solve a subset of visually grounded reasoning tasks, but remain far from reliable, with even the strongest model, Seedance 2.0, achieving only 51.0% under our evaluation criteria. Our analysis further explore the output failure modes, input condition sensitivity, performance transfer boundary from synthetic fine-tuning, and internal denoising perspective revealing limited self-correction, where later steps mainly refine early hypotheses rather than correct reasoning errors. We hope VGI-bench will help stimulate the development of next-generation video generation models. Website: https://hexuan21.github.io/VGI-Bench/

JIT-Agent: Scaling Harness Intelligence via Just-in-Time Harness Evolution

    Arxiv:

    http://arxiv.org/abs/2608.25593v1

    摘要:

Agent capability is not determined by the model alone. The agent harness, encompassing memory management, planning strategy, action protocol, and tool/skill orchestration, can dominate the contribution of the underlying foundation model. Yet harness design remains manual, task-specific, and fundamentally unscalable. We present JIT-Agent, a harness intelligence model trained to synthesize task-adaptive agent harnesses on the fly for arbitrary off-the-shelf agentic LLMs. We formalize the agent harness as a composable, machine-generatable artifact governed by a fixed four-module protocol, and train JIT-Agent to customize harnesses for a given task at hand, repair harnesses for stable and reliable execution, and self-evolve by distilling performance signals from an expanding archive of prior harness configurations. Equipped with JIT-Agent as a harness helper, DeepSeek-V4-Flash surpasses GPT-5.6 on DeepSearchQA (+9.1) and OdysseyBench (+4.3), while the already strong GLM-5.2 gains up to +20.2 points. Across controlled evaluations, JIT-Agent-generated harnesses are performance-competitive with mature agent runtimes such as OpenCode and Claude Code and consistently improve multi-scale model families of DeepSeek V4, Mimo-V2.5, and Qwen3.6. To our knowledge, JIT-Agent is the first model purpose-built for just-in-time harness generation, establishing harness intelligence as a trainable, transferable, and compounding dimension of agent capability orthogonal to model scaling.

VBVR-Pro: A Scalable and Verifiable Suite for Native Visual Reasoning

    Arxiv:

    http://arxiv.org/abs/2608.26105v1

    摘要:

Native visual reasoning treats visual generation as the medium of reasoning itself: visual states (i.e. images and videos) are not merely inputs to be understood or outputs to be rendered, but first-class substrates for problem solving beyond language. Yet progress remains bottlenecked by the lack of scalable training tasks, reliable feedback, and controlled comparisons across generative substrates. In this work, we introduce VBVR-Pro, a closed-loop testbed that makes native visual reasoning through generation trainable, verifiable, optimizable, and experimentally controllable. 1) Task scaling. VBVR-Pro turns visual reasoning into a controlled task space of 300 procedurally generated tasks. Models trained on VBVR-Pro show strong transfer beyond the proposed suite across seven external visual reasoning benchmarks such as RISE-Video, MME-CoF-Pro, and BabyVision. 2) Verifiable rewards. VBVR-Pro provides verifiable reward scorers for task-grounded evaluation. Through a systematic study of leading MLLMs as judges, we identify recurring failure modes of the prevalent VLM-as-a-judge paradigm. In contrast, the proposed scorers are grounded in deterministic, task-specific rules, achieve fine-grained alignment with human judgments. Importantly, they serve as reliable reward signals for large-scale multi-task reinforcement learning and demonstrate stronger post-RL performance across visual reasoning tasks. 3) Mechanism study. VBVR-Pro enables controlled modality studies across more than 30 image, video, and interleaved generators. Our analysis shows that video generation remains strongest for tasks requiring persistent spatiotemporal state tracking, while interleaved generation provides a compute-efficient alternative. Critically, ablations and probing suggest the presence of vision-native trajectories that are crucial to visual reasoning. We release all data, models, scorers, and code.

Towards a Densing Law for User Representation Learning at Billion-Scale Capacity

    Arxiv:

    http://arxiv.org/abs/2608.23392v1

    摘要:

User representation learning in real-world industrial scenarios is commonly scaled by increasing user amount, behavioral sequence length and model size. However, existing methods face two challenges: (i) Bottleneck for raw data scaling at billion-scale capacity, as performance exhibit diminishing performance gains with larger-scale raw text user behavioral input, which can be mitigated by tokenization. (ii) Lack of quantitative analysis of how tokenization configurations should scale with data size. In this report, we propose User Behavioral Densing Law for characterizing the quantitative relationship between data scale and the minimum sufficient tokenization capacity. Firstly, we conduct a pilot study on raw & tokenized scaling comparison on billion-scale Alipay dataset, revealing the raw data scaling bottleneck and the sustained gains enabled by tokenization. To derive the scaling pattern governing the minimum sufficient tokenization configuration at different data scales, theoretical analysis and systematic experiments are employed to summarize the quantitative scaling pattern. We find an approximately linear relationship between the logarithms of minimum sufficient tokenization capacity and input data size measured by tokens, and the scaling slope varies systematically with the tokenization method and data source, reflecting differences in representation-space redundancy and intra-source uniqueness. Guided by the proposed law, we further develop ALGN, an adaptive variable-length tokenization method that improves capacity allocation. Extensive experiments across diverse data sources, tokenization methods, and downstream tasks demonstrate the generalizability and reliability of the User Behavioral Densing Law, providing practical guidance for tokenization configuration selection in large-scale user representation learning. Moreover, ALGN outperforms existing baselines.

Graph Engineering in the Era of LLM Agents: From Individual Intelligence to System Intelligence

    Arxiv:

    http://arxiv.org/abs/2608.21156v1

    摘要:

LLMs have evolved from language generators to autonomous agents capable of complex, long-horizon tasks. This evolution has produced paradigms including Prompt Engineering to elicit model capabilities, Context Engineering to manage information access, Harness Engineering to organize external tools and resources, and Loop Engineering to support continual reflection and self-improvement. Yet as tasks grow more complex, individual intelligence faces a fundamental limit: many tasks require heterogeneous expertise, interdependent subtasks, parallel execution, independent verification, and persistent state, exceeding any single agent's organizational capacity. Augmenting one agent's capabilities or context cannot resolve this architectural mismatch; intelligence must instead be distributed across specialized agents and organized at the system level. We call this System Intelligence: an agent system's ability to organize and coordinate multiple intelligent components into a coherent, adaptive whole pursuing a shared objective. Achieving it requires more than adding agents; it demands explicit structures to organize work, coordinate heterogeneous agents, and maintain evolving execution states. We introduce Graph Engineering, an emerging paradigm for next-generation agent systems. Unlike prior paradigms that mainly optimize individual interactions or agent-level behavior, Graph Engineering constructs explicit, dynamic, evolving graph structures representing tasks, agents, and system states. These abstractions provide a unified foundation for organizing complex objectives, orchestrating heterogeneous agents, modeling system dynamics, and enabling scalable agent evolution. We systematically review the principles, methodologies, and applications of Graph Engineering for LLM agents. Beyond Correctness: Benchmarking and Aligning Response Behaviors in Hybrid-Thinking MLLMs

    Arxiv:

    http://arxiv.org/abs/2608.12781v2

    摘要:

Hybrid-thinking multimodal large language models (MLLMs) allow a single model to alternate between deliberative thinking and latency-efficient non-thinking inference. Although these modes differ in reasoning budget, their delivered responses should satisfy the same user-facing standard. Correctness alone may not characterize this response quality; we therefore evaluate task accuracy and response-pattern failures as complementary outcomes. We study this gap through \textbf{response-pattern alignment}: whether thinking and non-thinking interfaces preserve acceptable final-response behavior. We introduce \textbf{PatternEval}, a failure-enriched diagnostic benchmark comprising 2,415 multimodal prompts spanning visual perception and grounding, structured image understanding, and multimodal knowledge reasoning. PatternEval tests four recurrent failures: chain-of-thought leakage, response repetition, logical contradiction, and performative reasoning. Response-pattern failures are widespread across models from different providers, with non-thinking inference exhibiting substantially higher failure rates and thereby creating systematic misalignment between thinking and non-thinking interfaces. Motivated by this diagnosis, we develop \textbf{PatternRM}, a response-level reward model, and \textbf{PatternRL}, which introduces pattern-specific penalties during reinforcement learning. Experiments on Qwen3-VL-4B and Qwen3-VL-8B show that incorporating pattern-specific penalties into reinforcement learning can mitigate cross-mode misalignment while incurring a marginal task performance trade-off. Together, PatternEval and PatternRL provide an evaluation-and-training framework for aligning user-visible response patterns across hybrid-thinking interfaces.

Learn What's Left, Not What's Mastered: Saturation Aware Advantage Reweighting for Multi-Reward Policy Optimization

    Arxiv:

    http://arxiv.org/abs/2608.16072v1

    摘要:

Reinforcement learning (RL) with group-relative advantages has become the de facto standard for post-training language model reasoners. However, when optimizing multiple reward objectives, existing methods typically scalarize the reward vector with a fixed weighted sum before group-wise standardization. We show that this design leads to two fundamental problems: rollouts with distinct reward profiles can receive identical advantages, and all objectives are optimized with fixed relative weights regardless of their current level of saturation. As a result, training continues to allocate gradient budget to already-solved objectives instead of focusing on those with greater remaining headroom. We introduce \textbf{Saturation Aware Advantage Reweighting for Multi-Reward Policy Optimization} (SA-MRPO), which standardizes each reward objective independently and adaptively discounts its contribution according to a batch-level estimate of objective saturation. This dynamically reallocates optimization effort toward under-optimized objectives while empirically maintaining performance on those that are already well satisfied. We further show that saturation-aware reweighting can reverse the sign of an update, rather than merely rescale its magnitude. Across mathematical reasoning with two- and three-objective reward combinations, SA-MRPO improves the harder correctness objective over GDPO in 12 of 15 benchmark comparisons, with gains of up to $5\%$ on AIME24. On adaptive reasoning it improves accuracy on all five benchmarks, by $3.8\%$ on average and up to $9.2 \%$ on AMC23, and on coding benchmarks it improves pass rate by up to $2.3\%$, while in all settings maintaining the easier objectives near their already satisfied levels.

    MOSS-VL Technical Report

    Arxiv:

    http://arxiv.org/abs/2608.15045v1

    摘要:

We present MOSS-VL, an open vision-language model family that treats real-time interaction -- perceiving while it speaks -- as a first-class capability. It is co-designed across the stack: the language decoder attends to vision only through gated cross-attention, so the model can naturally see incoming frames while generating; a synthesized interaction corpus supervises when to speak, when to stay silent, and when to revise; and a staged curriculum concentrates all real-time-specific training in one light final stage over a strong offline foundation. Offline, MOSS-VL-Instruct is competitive at comparable scale and leads temporal-reasoning video sets. Across four streaming benchmarks, MOSS-VL-Realtime posts the best average on three (second on the fourth) among open-source streaming models, sweeping the three subsets that squarely test proactive behavior -- 66.0 vs. 37.5 for the best baseline on OmniMMI Proactive Alerting. With 11.3B parameters but visual tokens outside the decoded sequence, MOSS-VL widens its time-to-first-token advantage over same-backbone Qwen3-VL-8B from 2.8x to 5.1x as visual context grows. We release all five checkpoints, the training curriculum, and the real-time inference code at https://github.com/OpenMOSS/MOSS-VL.

ClawGym II: Exploring Black-Box RL on Agent Harness

    Arxiv:

    http://arxiv.org/abs/2608.16798v1

    摘要:

Agent harnesses have substantially improved performance on long-horizon tasks by coordinating agent interactions with the environment. However, reinforcement learning through complex harnesses remains largely unexplored, as scaling such training to long-horizon agent tasks introduces fundamental challenges. In this work, we present a unified black-box RL framework for stable and scalable optimization of general agents through complex harnesses. Concretely, we first build a sandbox-based execution infrastructure that isolates task environments and harnesses within temporary sandboxes for large-scale concurrent rollouts. We then decouple policy optimization from opaque harness execution and place a serving proxy at the model boundary to capture model calls. To reconstruct multi-turn trajectories and improve training efficiency, we organize the captured calls into prefix trees and further adapt both critic-based PPO and critic-free GRPO to optimize over the recovered tree structure. Meanwhile, we maintain training-inference consistency throughout the optimization process. Finally, we introduce mix-harness training, allowing a single model to be jointly optimized by heterogeneous harnesses. With Qwen3-30A3B, black-box RL improves Pass@1 on ClawGym-Bench by 9.98 and 14.81 points through OpenClaw and Claude Code, respectively, while remaining stable over 200-400 optimization steps. Moreover, the framework yields consistent gains on more challenging tasks such as JobBench and OfficeQA. Overall, our framework enables effective, stable, and scalable optimization of general agents through black-box harnesses, supporting unified training across heterogeneous execution systems.

An Empirical Study of Training Pixel-Space Text-to-Image Diffusion Models

    Arxiv:

    http://arxiv.org/abs/2608.16887v1

    摘要:

This paper investigates an increasingly important topic in generative modeling: pixel-space diffusion models. Although numerous studies have explored this topic, most focus on small-scale or class-conditional settings. Consequently, a practical recipe for training pixel-space models that rival or exceed well-established latent-space counterparts remains elusive. Through a comprehensive empirical study, we first observe that direct large-scale pre-training in pixel space converges substantially more slowly than in latent space. This observation motivates a latent-to-pixel strategy that acquires generative priors efficiently in latent space and transitions to pixel space during post-training. We then systematically investigate the key design choices governing this transition, including weight initialization, data composition, prediction target, decoder architecture, and noise schedule, and identify a practical recipe that makes the resulting pixel-space models match or outperform their latent-space counterparts while delivering 3.18 to 4.75 times end-to-end inference speedups. We hope that our findings provide useful empirical insights and practical guidelines for future research on pixel-space generation.
