On December 18th, 2008, Mellory went out to perform sex work in order to buy Christmas gifts for her family. It was supposed to be her last night of that type of work. Unfortunately, she never made it home. There was a gang headquarters close by where she was last seen, and suspicion quickly fell on the gang. One man in particular, Mauha Fawcett, was even tried and convicted.
