In dieser Folge sprechen wir mit Dr. Benjamin Etzold (Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies) über einen geographischen Zugang zur Migrationsforschung und das "Gewaltkontinuum" der Flucht. Dabei erfahren wir , warum Räume zentral sind, um Migration zu verstehen. Zudem erklärt Benjamin zentrale Begriffe und Methoden der geographischen Migrationsforschung. Abschließend erfahren wir erste Ergebnisse aus seinem aktuellen Forschungsprojekt zu geschlechtsbezogener Gewalt gegen Rohingya in Bangladesch.

In dieser Episode sprechen wir mit Constantin über die akademische Karriere nach der Dissertation. Wir erfahren, warum die Position einer Juniorprofessur nicht so einfach zu definieren ist und wie sie sich von anderen Professuren unterscheidet. In dieser Folge sprechen wir mit Monique über Rassismus in der Altenpflege. Wir erfahren aus ihren empirischen Analysen von Feldbeobachtungen und Interviews, in welcher Weise in der Altenpflege "Unbehagen" entsteht und für wen. Außerdem sprechen wir darüber, was das spezifisch Ostdeutsche an diesem Phänomen ist und wie dabei Ökonomisierungszwang und Unterdrückungserfahrungen eine Rolle spielen. Nach diesem Einblick in die Forschungsergebnisse von Monique sprechen wir über das Unbehagen als Forscher*in in der Reproduktion von Rassismus und die rassismuskritische Perspektive.

Anlässlich der bevorstehenden Europawahlen werfen wir einen Blick auf die Zusammensetzung der Parlamente im europäischen Mehrebenensystem. Es ist kein Geheimnis, dass diese nicht alle gesellschaftlichen Gruppen gleichermaßen entsprechend ihrem jeweiligen Anteil an der Bevölkerung widerspiegeln. Doch wie sieht die Bevölkerung die politische Repräsentation? Welche Vorstellungen existieren in der Gesellschaft und wie lassen sich diese messen? Mit Simone Tosson, Politikwissenschaftlerin an der Universität Duisburg-Essen, gehen wir diesen Fragen nach und erhalten einen Einblick in die Untersuchungsergebnisse des Forschungsprojekts "Gesellschaftliche Konflikte und Dynamiken des Parteienwettbewerbs in der Migrations- und Integrationspolitik".

Mehrsprachigkeit ist Realität für viele Menschen in Deutschland. Aber wie spiegelt sich das im Bildungssystem? Dazu sprechen wir mit dem angewandten Sprachwissenschaftler Dr. Till Woerfel (Mercator Institut für Sprachförderung und Deutsch als Zweitsprache an der Universität zu Köln). Neben Ausführungen zur Kultur der Digitalität, zur Bedeutung von Mehrsprachigkeit im Bildungssystem und Handlungsansätzen, sprechen wir mit ihm auch über eine spezifische Methode. Wir hören, welchen Beitrag das systematic review für ein evidenzinformiertes, bildungspolitisches Handeln leisten kann - und wo die Grenzen des Transfers wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse liegen.

Sukhana) über ihr erzählendes Sachbuch "Von Indien nach Deutschland: Was uns der Weg meines Vaters über Migration und die Freundlichkeit von Fremden erzählt". Von Capital Bra bis badmómzjay – in dieser Folge tauchen wir ein in einen Ausschnitt der Deutschrapszene. Fester Bestandteil des Mainstreams und aus den deutschen Charts nicht mehr wegzudenken, ist Deutschrap mittlerweile auch Gegenstand vielfältiger Forschung. Allerdings muss man oft mehr als nur Deutsch verstehen, um einige Tracks in ihrer Gesamtheit zu begreifen. In dieser sprachlichen Vielfalt spiegeln sich oftmals Identitätsverhandlungen wider, die im Mittelpunkt dieser Ausgabe stehen. In unserer letzten Folge des Jahres 2023 greifen wir ein Thema auf, das uns dieses Jahr besonders beschäftigt hat. Im vergangenen Mai jährte sich der rassistische Brandanschlag in Solingen zum 30. mal, welcher der Familie Genç fünf geliebte Familienmitglieder raubte und tiefe Narben bei den Überlebenden und Hinterbliebenen hinterließ. Deren Perspektiven bleiben jedoch zu oft in der gesellschaftlichen Aufarbeitung zurück. Das Autor*innenteam um Birgül Demirtaş und Prof. Dr. Derya Gür-Şeker stellen sich dem entgegen mit ihrem neuen Sammelband "Solingen, 30 Jahre nach dem Brandanschlag: Rassismus, extrem rechte Gewalt und die Narben einer vernachlässigten Aufarbeitung“, der die Perspektiven der Betroffenen in den Mittelpunkt stellt. In dieser Folge sprechen wir mit ihnen über die Entstehungsgeschichte des Buches, Erinnerungspolitik, und die zentrale Rolle von Betroffenen in der Aufarbeitung rassistischer Gewalt.
