Every winter many international students at The New School celebrate an important holiday away from home. Angelina Meng, a freshman at Parsons, is one of them.

For musicians, there is always that one song that brings them back to where it all began. They are reminded of the first time they picked up that instrument or microphone. In this segment, Danielle Davis describes where it all began for her with learning the song "Hot Cross Buns" for the first time on the violin.

Inscription of Hope is a moving text that was written on a cellar wall during World War II. It was written by prisoners while hiding from the Nazis. The piece is being performed by Saint Dominic Academy Women's Chamber Choir the Dominos, and explores how the hope for peace still continues to live on (even in an all-girls school in Jersey City).

9 / 11 was a day that many people in the United States will remember so vividly. This occurrence changed the nation and put it in a very vulnerable state. Many people have recollections of what happened on that day, what they were doing, and where they were. But what if you were a child that experienced this event first hand? To me it seemed like an ordinary day. I followed my morning routine, as I did every other day. Until one message from the school’s intercom changed my life forever. This is my story of 9/11, and why this day has haunted me ever since.

Ever since she was a baby, producer Elle Brosh has wanted to eat the world. For a young girl with a sophisticated palate and a tendency to overeat, the grocery store was paradise. In this short feature, Elle recalls shopping for groceries with her mom, a weekly ritual with an unusual twist she will always cherish.

After seeing the film, Memoir of a Geisha, Elle Brosh became fascinated with them. In 2008, when she was fifteen, she traveled to Japan with her mother, and had a first-hand experience that she remembers with humor and dread.
