Memphis Hardwood

While the Grizzlies have gone 1-4 over their last 5, they are 6-4 over their last ten. What ails the Bears in Beale St. Blue? Marvin and Anthony break it all down on a new episode of Memphis Hardwood!

The Grizz drop two straight to start their Christmas road trip. Are Marv and Anthony worried? Nah - we feel great about the team. We talk about why they dropped two games they could have - maybe should have won - and speculate what that means for the rest of this road trip. Plus, we do a "David Roddy" watch, discuss the Grizzlies bench, and eagerly await the return of the dominant and less foul prone JJJ. All that and more on a new episode of Memphis Hardwood!

We spend a lot of time talking about the other guys on this podcast. It could be our scrappy punk rock roots, always wanting to support the underdogs and  lesser known players. It could be because so many players are so good on the Grizzlies that we simply have to share the love. But today we spend some time talking about Ja Morant's leadership - and why it is more than points, assists, and rebounds. Tune in for Ja and stay for musings on the Grizzlies six game winning streak - four in a row at home. All this and more on a new Memphis Hardwood!

Down four rotation players? If you're the Memphis Grizzlies, no problem! Play a few rookies, ask your starter-level back-up point guard to have a career night, and you're good to go. The Grizzlies have won 6 of the last 7, JJJ looks unstoppable, and even with bad news on the Desmond Bane front, the Grizzlies future looks bright. The squad appears to be hitting their stride just as they are ramping up for their Christmas Day game against the Warriors.

The Beale Street Bears of late fall just wrapped up a road trip where they dropped two games against old friend Mike Conley and the Jazz, but they looked quite good in wins over Sacramento and Portland.  How is DB playing since he returned? Why is the defense so porous? How is Santi holding up in his temporary starting role? And what about Taylor Jenkins' favorite new rookie David Roddy? Marvin and I get into all of this and much more on the latest Memphis Hardwood.

Is Ja is making an early case for MVP? Is this team still deep? Do the rookies look like they belong? Is the shooting actually better this year? Based on early results from a limited sample size, the answer to all the above could be absolutely. One thing is for sure though - this has been a fun start to a new Grizzlies season, and we have a lot to unpack after just four games. Marvin and Anthony break it all down on a new episode of Memphis Hardwood.
