She began her TV broadcasting career in Macon, GA, before ultimately landing in Memphis, where she's become an integral part of the city's fabric.

Kym is a proud supporter of local organizations and initiatives, including the Memphis Humane Society. She's also a recipient of the prestigious Emmy Award for her investigative reporting.  When she's not anchoring the news, Kym loves spending time with her family trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

From his early days at CBHS to becoming the beloved Sports Director of Action News 5, Jarvis Greer has left an indelible mark on our city's sports scene. Did you know he developed the "news bug" early on, thanks to his upbringing and siblings?

Jarvis's journey continued at Memphis State University, where he not only made the football team but excelled on the field. His stats speak for themselves: 10/3/1 in junior year, overcoming a broken foot, and 4/7/0 in senior year. Graduating in 1979, he wasted no time, starting his career at 1960 Union Avenue just days after graduation.

Along the way, Jarvis met his wife Emily—who could forget that story? His first job, working with Big Jack, and eventually taking over as Sports Director in 1991 are all part of his storied career. From those early 7.5 years as a weekend sports anchor to expanding local sports coverage, Jarvis has seen it all.

He's covered countless memorable events, faced challenges head-on (remember that prostate cancer battle in 2021?), and continues to be a voice on Tiger Football coverage. Now a proud grandfather, he and Emily are enjoying retirement.

On this special 4th of July episode of Memphis Mike and Friends, we honor a daring top secret Air Force mission called Operation Secret Squirrel that launched the opening strikes of Operation Desert Storm in January, 1991.

Seven B-52G Stratofortresses took off from Barksdale AFB for a record-breaking 35-hour, 14,000 mile journey, carrying a top-secret weapon: the AGM-86C Conventional Air-launched Cruise Missile (CALCM). This was the first time this long-range strike capability was used in combat!

Hear about this historic mission from two men who were part of the group of 57 men that created a lot of “shock and awe” in the desert! Co-pilot Colonel Warren Ward (ret) and Radar Navigator Lt. Colonel Pat “Cruise” Hobday (ret) flew the third plane in the formation nicknamed “Grim Reaper II” and they discuss in amazing detail this thrilling mission (Well, not everything. Some things are still considered Top Secret!)

A huge shoutout to the courageous crew members, the "Secret Squirrels," who risked it all on this historic mission! Their dedication and skill paved the way for a new era of airpower. ✈️ 🇺🇸
