On January 17 spoken word artist ARIAH J. dropped by the MENTAL DIALOGUE LIVE XPERIENCE (MD Live X) and shared her dynamic poem about her STRAINED RELATIONSHIP with her BLACK FATHER; who after he divorced her mother refuses to date any BLACK AMERICAN WOMEN now. ARIAH'S poem kicked off one the deepest dialogues we ever had at the MD Live X, and this Saturday, ARIAH J, is our 1st hour guest for our CONVERSATIONS W/ SMART PEOPLE series. Are there DADDY ISSUES? Does she struggle with SELF-LOVE? Since her own father no longer finds beauty in BLACK WOMEN, has she considered INTERRACIAL DATING? During the discussion she said she still seeks BLACK LOVE, even after her own divorce from a brother, but wonders does BLACK LOVE want her? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. The 2nd hour is an OPEN CALL to all TRUTH SEEKERS to call in and dialogue about anything you want. The 2nd hour belongs to you. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
Throughout 2019 various well known African-Americans, such as comedian STEVE HARVEY, rapper LUDACRIS, and real estate mogul JAY MORRISON highlighted their visits to GHANA, dubbed THE YEAR OF RETURN; in part, because it marked the 400 year anniversary of enslaved Africans being brought to the shores of what is now known as the U.S in 1619. Leading up to the YEAR OF RETURN, the GHANAIAN government highly encouraged AFRICAN-AMERICANS to visit, do business, buy land, or even repatriate back to GHANA. DR. BOYCE WATKINS recently visited and encouraged other AFRICAN-AMERICANS to do the same, while ANTONIO MOORE of TONE TALKS suggested the YEAR OF RETURN is a hyped up marketing ploy to increase GHANAIAN tourism with no long term effects towards bridging the gap between AFRICAN-AMERICANS and AFRICANS. Special guests, Ghanaian immigrant, FRANK ASSANTE & African-American, VARIAN "CHIEF X" XAVIER, both recently return from separate trips to GHANA and drop by to discuss TRUTHS & MYTHS about the YEAR OF RETURN. If there is, in fact, not a current GENDER WAR going on in the AFRICAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY, the blame game between BLACK MEN & WOMEN is unfortunately never ending. On THE REAL talk show, LONI LOVE suggested that BLACK MEN in general don't know how to have healthy or faithful relationship. CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD of the BREAKFAST CLUB retorted that is not a factual narrative since BLACK MEN DON'T CHEAT. Both SEXES seem to enjoy telling the other what they can do to be better, without holding their own gender fully accountable for their own actions. Why have phrases like "Niggas Ain't Shit" or "Can't Trust A Bitch" become common vernacular inside certain groups of Blacks? Or is the resurgence of AFRICAN-AMERICANS adoring their own beauty and encouraging BLACK LOVE, proof that the media constantly feeds into negative stereotypes hoping to manufacturing discord between BLACK MEN & WOMEN that is not real? Up until recently MARRIAGE RATES have steadily declined in the U.S. for the last 50 years to the point there are those who suggest MARRIAGE IS JUST A PIECE OF PAPER. Some argue that MARRIAGE is a way to allow the government in your business, while others think MARRIAGE is of the utmost importance, whether for religious reasons or for legacy purposes to build wealth. Special guest co-host, CAROL LONG (married), along with special guests, AARON MALLORY (divorced) & EMILLE BRYANT (divorced) drop by MD to discuss the MARRIAGE LICENSE and are they are relevant to the idea of matrimony? The DEMOCRATS & REPUBLICANS seemingly have drawn their lines in the sand on TRUMP'S IMPEACHMENT and every night CNN & FOX argue FOR or AGAINST the PRESIDENT'S IMPEACHMENT. This Saturday we attempt the impossible and ask CAN WE HAVE A REASONABLE CONVERSATION on the IMPEACHMENT?, as special guest co-host SHELLEY WYNTER of The Shelley Wynter's show, along with two concerned citizens, WILLIAM AGNEW & OSVALDO GAYTAN drop by to provide their unique perspectives on the IMPEACHMENT. GAYTAN, actually thinks the IMPEACHMENT is a good thing, co-host WYNTERS disagrees and believes it is nothing but a WITCH HUNT; whereas special guest, AGNEW ask probing questions that make you think regardless of which side of the political spectrum you are on. BLACK SOCRATES discusses the $1.2T AFRICAN-AMERICANS spend annually, as well as breaks down the $12M raised in five days for the TRUMP WALL by a U.S veteran; and how it is not exactly an example of WHITE PEOPLE coming together as some BLACKS claim to disparage BLACKS for lack of ECONOMIC UNITY.
CALLING ALL POETS & POETRY LOVERS!!! Once a year the Mental Dialogue talk show presents POETIC DIALOGUES this show features poets from around the country in support of a non-profit organization directly assisting the AFRICAN-AMERICAN community. This year's fundraiser is for MOTHERS AGAINST GANG VIOLENCE as the founder TEKESIA SHIELDS will be on the show telling us about her wonderful organization and all the ways it is dedicated to helping our youth circumvent the GANG CULTURE, all the while breaking down the POETRY of some of the dopest SPOKEN WORD ARTISTS in the country. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK Support MOTHERS AGAINST GANG VIOLENCE via Cash App: $Magviolence.
WHITE SUPREMACY is often cited for issues within the AFRICAN-AMERICAN community, while others suggest it is no longer a major issue, especially since BLACKS hold themselves down and use WHITE SUPREMACY as an excuse. Based on your understanding of WHITE SUPREMACY which is it? Can we as BLACKS resolve this issue, if so, or can we simply just ignore WHITE SUPREMACY? Special guest, STUART KNIGHT, author of MARGINALIZING WHITE SUPREMACY drops by to provide his viewpoint on how the AFRICAN-AMERICAN community can deal with and collectively move past any issues related to WHITE SUPREMACY. QUEEN & SLIM did you Love it or hate it, seems to be the unique dynamic of LENA WAITHE'S (writer) film starring JODIE TURNER SMITH, as Queen, and DANIEL KALUUYA as Slim. Special guest co-host, SOUL SCRIBE, returns to continue PART 2 of our dialogue after Thursday night's special edition MD POP UP show on the movie (part 1), featuring Ashley Johnson-Alford (activist) and Clarence Rickett III (spoken word artist). We want to open up the phone lines as we explore the various themes this movie touched on whether you LOVED IT or HATED IT: or have no interest in seeing it. CALL-IN and #GIVEUSYOUR3CENTS on the things you liked/disliked or why you refused to see it. Some think it has the potential to be an all-time classic, while others said it was trash. WHAT SAY YOU? AFRICAN-AMERICANS, we are often heard stressing the necessity of practicing COLLECTIVE ECONOMICS, but WHY? In the U.S. no other race seems to openly campaign to buy within their RACE, ETHNICITY, or CULTURE. In particular ASIANS, HISPANICS, and JEWISH cultures are lauded by some AFRICAN-AMERICANS for their appearance of practicing group economics. Do we as AFRICAN-AMERICANS truly understand what COLLECTIVE ECONOMICS looks like? Or, are misunderstanding aspects of group economics that hinders our own progress? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
TRUTH SEEKERS please call in as welcome your own examples of effectively practicing collective economics on the show.
