We may use the same language at times, but we seem to agree on why things are the way they are and how to work to change less prosocial behaviors at various levels of existence.

Creating an Authentic Voice and Impactful Message in Professional Writing  This workshop will teach others how to discuss and unpack their lived experience in a professional writing venue e.g., a newspaper, journal articles, etc. We will discuss approaches to “talking” about the lived experience with behavioral health issues. We will explore the importance of reflection and the use of self-disclosure in writing as an integral aspect of recovery and modeling good health for all peers.

This roast is hard to listen to at times. This is the audio file for the original youtube airing. I hired comedian Dan Laitman to roast me. I think he did well. I was tolerating it well, I think, until the end when the bottom falls out from underneath me and I turn inward.   In the wake of internal despair, I lash out at everyone around me and resort to name-s and substance use.  Dan does his best to be supportive in a roast turned into dark introspection and self-loathing.   I paid for this.

This podcast is truly an inspirational forum, and no holds bar seminar with Ember Manos Belle. The podcast is a rare public broadcast where Ember allows her work to come alive again as she talks about her life, struggles with the mental health system, and sex/gender norms as they intersect marriage and her life. Ember, very much like in her writing, is revealing, sometimes shocking, and very much authentic at all times. Her words teach us to hold fast to life in a world that can be unforgiving and filled with so much grief. Ember teaches us that this grief may be complicated but indeed not the terminal point in our lives if we want more for ourselves and our station in life. The answers may not be correct in front of us, but through her wisdom in her novels and this podcast, people can grow if they accept who they are and the world around them with open arms and fierce steadfastness to live.
