Episode 9 ! Thank-you all for your love and support with the podcast, together we are helping not only to raise awareness, but also helping to remove the negative stigma associated with mental health. This is the last week for Mental Health Awareness month, by supporting one another, and spreading the word, the importance of mental health and dealing with its struggles will receive a bigger focus in our society. This weeks episode is a short solo episode where i dive into the topic of regret & living in the past. All throughout my mental health journey, it has been very prevalent and i wanted to share my stories and insights to help those of you who also deal with it. The last couple of weeks have been quite rough for me mentally, and this was caused by a variety of things which i mention in the episode. I got into that cycle of regret and living in the past, which has not been at all good for my overall mental health. The past is a time that no longer exists and beating ourselves up for the "bone-head" mistakes and decisions we made serves us no purpose other than wasting the time we have here in the present. Life is an experience, regardless of what we encounter, we have to be thankful for those experiences, and allow ourselves to grow & learn from them. Thank-you once again for listening, please share the episode and show with anyone you can, and remember, mental health > everything else !
First off, thank-you for listening and the continued support, it means a great deal to me that you all are helping to increase awareness and remove the stigma that is attached to mental health. Now more than ever we need to all come together as a community and support each other, by doing so we can normalize mental health struggles and enable those suffering to seek the help that they need without fear of judgement. Today's solo episode dives into the topic of anxiety, my experience with it, and some tips on how i manage it. Similar to depression, anxiety is a very relatable subject when it comes to mental health and i wanted to share my story and things that i have learnt which help me combat it to hopefully help those of you who are also dealing with it. It began to be something i dealt with during my university career, but because i knew nothing about it or want to come to terms with the fact that i could have it, i never dealt with it and allowed it to progress with the decisions i made. Eventually after it began to dictate my behaviours, actions, thoughts, relationships, and basically every aspect of my life, i decided i needed to get help to deal with it. I share the things i did to begin this process, and how they helped me to get my anxiety in control to a point where it became manageable. I truly hope that this episode helps those of you that are in a similar situation and can relate deal with your anxiety and get yourself to a point where it is not dictating your life. Thank-you once again for listening, please share the episode and podcast with anyone you can and as always, take care of yourselves !
As always, thank-you to you all for the love and support that you have all shown both me and the podcast. I am extremely grateful, and it means more than you know that each one of you is helping to increase awareness and remove the stigma associated with mental health. May is mental health awareness month, so it's important that we all do our part in helping mental health become normalized and provide support for those who need it. This episode is a solo one where i discuss depression, a serious mental illness that affects many people especially with the current state of the world with the pandemic. I explain my experience with depression, how it began, how it impacted me and my actions, as well as how it caused a great deal of strain on many of the close relationships in my life. I realized after several months that i needed to get help in order to deal with it and get it under control. I dive into the steps i took to get help and the things i did that helped me/still help me currently when i am feeling depressed or feeling down. Depression is a mental illness that many people suffer with in silence and i hope that this episode and me sharing my experience helps those who are dealing with it. Once again thank-you for listening, please share this, the more people it reaches the more we can continue the mission to increase awareness and remove the negative stigma. Take care of yourselves !
Episode 6 ! Thank-you all for the love and support that you have been giving me with the podcast and my mission to increase awareness & remove the negative stigma associated with mental health. This mission is particularly important in the month of May because it is mental health awareness month which is a great opportunity to spread the word and put the focus on helping & supporting our community. Today's episode is a special guest episode where i chat with a very good friend of mine about her mental health journey. Jordan is a social worker who not only works in mental health but who also dealt with mental health struggles for quite awhile. She opens up about her issues with substance abuse, how it impacted her, as well as how her support network helped her get through that extremely tough time. We also discuss the pandemic and how it relates to the work she does, the situations that she has to deal with regularly, and the importance of community during this time of isolation. Jordan shares some tips on how to start getting your mental health better when you are struggling, the idea of productivity, and how doing your best is always enough. She mentions the importance of having mental health conversations and how they can be so helpful not only when you are feeling down but also just in general. I hope that you enjoy the episode as much as i enjoyed having the discussion with Jordan, please continue to support the podcast by listening and sharing. For those of you who are interested in supporting me in my fundraiser for CMHA, a link to the page where you can donate will be on my linktree account which you can find on my instagram. Thank-you once again, and as always take care of yourselves !
Episode 5 ! Thank-you for listening and supporting the podcast, by doing so you too are helping raise awareness and reducing the negative stigma that is associated with mental health struggles. It's important that we all do our part in helping to normalize mental health issues, and get the people who need help the help that they need and deserve. Todays episode is a short solo episode where i discuss the topic of health = wealth, i'm sure that you have all heard it before and that's because it's true. When dealing with mental health issues, often we let our health slip through the cracks which is not a good habit at all. Because our mental health is suffering, we let our physical and emotional health take a toll as well, which in turn causes a more negative impact. It's a trickle down effect and it's our responsibility to ensure that we don't allow this to happen, or that we mitigate it as best as we can and make the right choices & decisions for our well being. Taking care of our diet/nutrition, as well as making exercise a part of our daily lives will help to better not only our mental health, but our overall health. I also discuss substance abuse briefly and share a bit of my experience with it during my mental health journey. Substance abuse, like poor diet and lack of physical activity in our lives, is not the answer or solution to our problems. We must have the courage to face those issues we are dealing with, and address them in the right manner that will not further negatively impact our mental health. I hope that you enjoy the episode, please continue to support and share the podcast, the more people it reaches, the better ! Thank-you and as always, take care of yourselves.
Thank-you so much for supporting the podcast and the mission to help increase awareness & decrease the negative stigma that is often associated with mental health struggles. By coming together and supporting one another, we can all do our part in normalizing mental health & helping those in need. Today's episode is one where i discuss a topic that has been quite prevalent in my mental health journey. I dive into the idea that healing is not linear and similar to life, there will be both good and not so good days. It's important that we recognize this, that we don't beat ourselves up for having those not so good days/weeks/periods, and that we don't place certain expectations or time limits on the journey to improve our mental health. Patience is key when navigating through mental health issues, time heals all, just not on our schedule. By acting more kind & compassionately with ourselves during these times we are not feeling the best, we prevent falling into a negative cycle which causes only harm and is not beneficial to us at all. Trust the process, don't give up, things will get better. Please check out the Energize Don't Hide event that CMHA is having, it's for a great cause and is the perfect opportunity to improve both physical and mental health. Once again thank-you for listening, please share the podcast with as many people as you can, and most importantly, take care of yourselves !

We can all help to raise awareness and remove the negative stigma that is associated with mental health issues. This episode is another special one because it is a guest feature episode, a friend of mine is going to share her story with mental health, and the journey that she is on handling it during this unprecedented time. Carol tells us a bit about herself, when her struggles with depression began, and how the pandemic has greatly affected her because she is a nurse who has to deal with COVID in so many different ways. Because she also wants to help raise awareness and remove the stigma related to mental health, Carol is doing her graduate research on new grad nurses and the effect that the transition period in combination with the current state of the world has on their mental health. We share insights on how to cope with the pandemic and it's effect on our mental health, as well some advice for people who are interested in getting help dealing with their mental health struggles. First off, thank-you for tuning in and listening to the podcast, it means more than you know to me that you are taking the time to listen and help raise awareness for mental health. This first episode is an intro to who I am, what my objective is for the podcast, and a small dive in to the topic of feeling alone when dealing with the struggles associated with mental health. When suffering from mental health issues, we often isolate ourselves because we think no one else is going through what we are. You are never alone, and seeking help does not make you weak or lesser, in-fact it makes you the opposite, brave and strong ! Taking that first step in admitting you that you are not okay is the best thing that you can do because it begins your journey to getting the help you need and deserve. Your mental health is the most important thing and i urge you to take the steps, no matter how small, to help you deal with the struggles that you are facing. Now more than ever there are tons of resources available which can provide us with the help we need to begin our journey to healing and getting better. I am always there for anyone who needs it, please reach out if you are finding it hard to cope, you are NEVER alone ! Thanks for listening once again, take care of yourselves.
