Welcome to another episode of Mental Health Multiverse: A podcast where we mindfully break down your pop culture favs and discuss them through the lens of self care, mental health, and personal development.

This week on MHM we are talking about MADAME MEDUSA from Disney’s 1977 movie, THE RESCUER’S!

In the opinion of HB & LB, Madame Medusa is an incredibly underrated villain. She has all the makings of an icon and yet she hasn’t hit that iconic status. In fact, she seems relatively forgotten. We hope to change that!

Questions, themes, and topics we touch on include:

          • Madame Medusa’s character design (largely influenced by Cruella)

          • Disney Villain comparison: Where does she compare to other iconic Disney Villains?

          • Does wearing lots of makeup mean you’re insecure?

          • How evil must you be to manipulate and kidnap a CHILD?

          • WHO DOES SNOOPS REMIND US OF?! (we never answered this, please help)

          • Having a manipulative caregiver you want to run away from.

Welcome to another episode of Mental Health Multiverse: A podcast where we mindfully break down your pop culture favs and discuss them through the lens of self care, mental health, and personal development.

This week on MHM we are talking about MADAME MIM from THE SWORD IN THE STONE

Joining us this week is special guest Jennifer Levine (she/her/they/them). Jennifer is a listener of the MHM podcast  and advocated to have Madame Mim on our Disney Villains Season. They’re an Intersex activist and clinical patient recruitment specialist working in CNS disorders, which includes Bipolar Depression, Depression, Schizophrenia, Migraine, and Binge Eating Disorder to name a few. She is a cinephile and avid fandom enthusiast. Her latest TV obsessions include From, Agatha All Along, and Felicity, but she is a diehard Lost, Agents of SHIELD and The West Wing fan. She can be found most places @jennlevine.

                    Follow Jen: https://www.instagram.com/jennlevine

In this episode, Jenn shares why Madame Mim is so important to her. Madame Mim lives in isolation, meaning that she was either shunned by society or chose to live that way. She didn’t ask for Wart to drop into her chimney!

Questions, themes, and topics we touch on include:

                    • The only 10 mins of screentime we get of the villain

                    • Loneliness, isolation, and community needs

                    • How the intersex experience relates to Madame Mim’s

                    • How Madame Mim fits into the archetypal "wicked witch" persona

                    • Acceptance and self-awareness as tools for mental wellness

                    • Applying lessons from the movie to real-life situations

This week on MHM we are talking about a rarely talked about the  villain from “The Great Mouse Detective,” RATIGAN! HB & LB agree that this is one of Disney’s most underrated movies and think it deserves more attention and appreciation…

As always, in addition to discussing our memories and experiences with the film as a whole, we also delve into Ratigan’s motivations, personality traits, background, and manipulative nature, highlighting the dark themes and complex dynamics in the movie. We also relate Ratigan's behavior to real-life experiences with volatile personalities, discussing the mental health implications, and consider whether a redemption arc is possible for such a character.

Welcome to another episode of Mental Health Multiverse: A podcast where we mindfully break down your pop culture favs and discuss them through the lens of self care, mental health, and personal development.

This week on MHM we are talking about Prince John from the 1973 Disney animated film, 'Robin Hood.' We delved into the themes of the movie, childhood crushes on animated characters, and the juxtaposition of Robin Hood's altruism against Prince John's greed. We also evaluated Prince John's motivations, his relationship dynamics, and his coping mechanisms while also debating the implications of fat shaming within the context of the film.

With references to various Robin Hood adaptations and their cultural impact, HB & LB take a closer look at the film's portrayal of wealth disparity and political power. They conclude by positioning Prince John as one of the weaker villains discussed in their podcast series.

Questions, themes, and topics we touch on include:

                          • Sibling rivalries

                          • Greed vs altruism

                          • The power of faith and religion as a form of community

                          • Body image - what exactly is ‘fat shaming?’

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! This week on MHM, we bring you a special Halloween villain straight from the Disney Channel. HB has watched this movie every year since she was a child and LB has only seen it a couple of times, which always leads to a fun conversation.

Questions, themes, and topics we touch on include:

                            • Kalabar’s motivations and relationships

                            • Halloweentown: A Utopia or Exile for Monsters?

                            • The power of believing in yourself

                            • Whether or not the Grandma’s (Agatha’s) behavior was ok

                            • Whether or not the Mother (Gwen’s) behavior was ok

                            • Marnie’s right to decide to be a witch

                            • Whether or not a villain’s level of evil can be judged by if they succeeded or not

                            • The societal pressure of doing whatever it takes to “be attractive”
