Dr. Arthur Trotzky is an internationally known treatment specialist with many years of professional work in varied therapeutic settings. From 2005-2011, He was case manager in the Recovering Professionals Program at Ridgeview Institute in Smyrna, Georgia. Prior to his work at Ridgeview, he was a senior staff therapist for the Kibbutz Child and Family Clinic in Israel for 27 years and Clinical Director of Israel's first twelve-step rehabilitation centers. He served in the IDF Medical Corps in a mobile trauma unit treating combat reactions and victims of terrorism.

He produced the documentary “You Are Not Alone” in which Black gay men speak about their struggles with depression and facilitates discussion forums on depression and HIV in Black gay men. he presented a poster exhibition “Examining Depression and HIV in Black gay men” at the 2012 International AIDS Conference in Washington, DC. Antoine founded and is president and CEO of DBGM, Inc.a non-profit organization committed to raising awareness of the underlying factors contributing to depression in Black gay men, to prevent their suicides. The organization has hosted several community discussion forums on depression affecting Black gay men nationwide, and has led a mental health summit and a conference: “In My Mind: A LGBT Peoples of Color Mental Health Conference”. The organization is in the process of planning for the 2016 “In My Mind…” conference.

Dr. Kristin Neff joins us on Mental Health News Radio to discuss her work which is all about self-compassion.  Kristin is currently an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. She is a pioneer in the field of self-compassion research, conducting the first empirical studies on self-compassion over a decade ago. In addition to writing numerous academic articles and book chapters on the topic, she is author of the book Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself released by William Morrow, and the 6 CD audio set called “Self-Compassion Step by Step,” released by Sounds True.  In conjunction with her colleague Dr. Chris Germer, she has developed an empirically supported eight-week training program called Mindful Self-Compassion, and offers workshops on self-compassion worldwide.  Kristin is also featured in the bestselling book and award-winning documentary The Horse Boy, which chronicles her family’s journey to Mongolia where they trekked on horseback to find healing for her autistic son.
