For this episode, we focused on the fifth element of the ‘5 Ways to Wellbeing’, which is giving. Our guests are David Llewellyn, a volunteer moderator for our online peer support forum Clic, and Nick Jemetta, a mental health campaigner, motivational speaker and fundraiser for Mental Health UK.

David and Nick told us how they first got involved with giving, what giving means to them, and the benefits for their mental health.

For this episode, we caught up with Lorna O’Connor, Senior Trainer and Consultant at Mental Health UK, and discussed why it’s great to keep learning, and why there are heaps of positives to be gained through it!

As well as explaining the different types of workplace training and consultancy available to people who are curious to learn more about mental health and support others, Lorna also talks about what motivates her and creates appetite for continued learning in her own personal time.

On this episode, we had the pleasure of chatting to Ruth Hyde, Director of Brand and Communications at the Woodland Trust, who shared her earliest memory of connecting with nature with us, and discussed the benefits she notices when exploring a wooded space.

Ruth also told us all about the great resources her organisation have made available at www.woodlandtrust.org.uk to help people find nature unexpectedly close to their doorstep!

For this episode, we focused on the being active pillar of the '5 Ways to Wellbeing'. Our guest is Dave Cross who is Group Exercise Programme Manager and Master Trainer at PureGym, which is also one of Mental Health UK’s closest partners.

Dave shared insight into the health benefits of keeping physically active, and gave us some fantastic tips on how we can all take bite-sized steps to bring more activity into our daily lives, whatever our fitness level.

We know that with the right support, at the right time, people with mental health needs can thrive in their community. We also know that this sadly doesn’t always happen.

Our guest for this podcast is Helen Garnham, Head of Equalities in the Community Mental Health team at Rethink Mental Illness – one of Mental Health UK’s four founding charities. Helen tells us about the work we’re doing in rural Somerset to connect with other organisations to ensure that residents get the support they need, when they need it.
