Looking to all and sundry for approval of your decisions. As a sovereign being over your own personal life, you don’t need the approval of everyone. No it behooves you to obtain advice, counsel, mentoring or coaching from the appropriate people. However, the approval of everybody and their grandmother is not needed.
Taking advice from the wrong people: some people literally run away from the right people and take advice from the wrong people. What do I mean by the wrong people? People have an agenda beyond your own success. People who have disparaged you in the past. People who are typically not supportive. I think there’s something in it in people where we want our critics to approve of us. The truth is that this is why they are critics. Frequently, they will never approve. Seek advice from people who have your best interest at heart. Better yet, learn to trust your own intuition, and add counsel, as another layer.
Being afraid to do the unconventional. How many times have you heard people say things like “I’ve never seen that done this way before“. The truth is unconventional does not mean wrong or bad. As a sovereign person over your own life, you are the only person, that knows the details and intricacies of your own life. Therefore there will be times when you will have to make decisions that are not popular, but our decisions for your own good.
Not being in integrity: as a sovereign person, you need to walk your talk. In addition, your thoughts, feelings, and actions should pretty much line up. If you are pretending to be OK with being an employee just because everyone around you seems to be that way, you will never attain the heights of what you truly want. This is because your actions are out of integrity with your thoughts and feelings. What if do you want to own your own business? Also, the converse is true. Nowadays, in this gig economy, many people are starting businesses and it is causing a lot of people who don’t feel the need to do so to feel a bit left out. Don’t run off and start a business that your thoughts and feelings are not lined up with, simply because everyone is doing so, that is a lack of integrity.
Giving away your personal sovereignty. There are things that you control, and there are things that you cannot control. A sure way to live a disappointed life Is trying to Control things you cannot, while simultaneously not controlling the things that you can. You can control what you eat, who you listen to, what do you think, what do you feel, who are you allowing in your life, how much time you spend on non-obligatory activities; the life you choose to create. You cannot control what the government does, the weather, the traffic, what specific illness what patient has; how many COVID-19 patients there are; and a myriad of other things. Make a distinction between the two and spend more time, money, and energy in the things that you can actually control.
