Emotional, dynamic and more powerful than ever: Mercedes-AMG presents the new CLA 45 4MATIC+ Shooting Brake.

Production of the new generation of the GLC and the GLC Coupé has started at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen. The most popular SUV model of the Mercedes-Benz brand is built flexibly on one line together with the C-Class Saloon, the C-Class Estate and the all-electric EQC. As the lead plant, Bremen also oversees the worldwide ramp-up of the model series.

Just a few months after the CLA Coupé, the new CLA Shooting Brake is starting to leave the production lines at the Hungarian Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét. This not only means that Mercedes-Benz Cars is putting the two sportiest models in the new compact car generation onto the roads in well-proven top quality – in production too, the company is setting standards with respect to flexibility, efficiency and sustainability. It means that the international ramp-up cascade for compact cars that started with the new A-Class in Rastatt in April 2018 has reached a further milestone.

The Kitsukawa family lives just a few kilometres outside the port town of Takamatsu. The house and land belonging to the Kitsukawas are nestled on a mountainside from which wide-reaching views can be enjoyed across the hills of southern Japan’s Shikoku island. But this view isn’t so important at this very moment, because the man of the house, 77-year-old Shimpei Kitsukawa, is just about to open his garage door. Whenever he does so with strangers standing by his side, his wife Nobuko (70) holds her hand in front of her mouth to hide her grin in advance of this special moment: “For my husband, it’s like a sacred event.”

Until now, urban logistics have been a very down-to-earth matter. As the last link in the supply chain, vans roll through the streets to deliver goods. However, because of the rapidly expanding online trade, they are increasingly reaching the limits of their capacity. Today logistics companies have to deliver 3.35 billion parcels annually in Germany alone, and that number is increasing.

For 40 years the G-Class has been the measure of all things in the off-road-vehicle segment, and for 20 years as an AMG model, too, with an extra portion of performance. This makes it by far the longest-standing passenger car model series built in Mercedes-Benz history and thus the forefather of all SUVs with the three-pointed star. To mark this anniversary there are no less than four highlights for G-Class fans.

Powerful proportions with short overhangs and off-road-oriented design as well as optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a special off-road light which helps detect obstacles immediately in front of the vehicle at low speeds – the new GLB is a versatile SUV. And a spacious family car: on request it is the first Mercedes-Benz in this segment available as a seven-seater. The two seats in row three can be used by people up to 1.68 metres in height

Already the fifth model in the compact class, the new CLA 35 4MATIC Shooting Brake is the latest point of entry to the world of Mercedes-AMG. The five-door model combines the powerful proportions of a sporty coupé with the decisive extra functionality thanks to the extended roof, the large tailgate, the wide load compartment opening and the variable interior.

The five millionth Mercedes-Benz compact vehicle “Made in Rastatt” since production of the first A-Class began back in 1997 has rolled off the production line at Mercedes-Benz’s Rastatt plant. This marks a historic production milestone for the A- and B-Class and the GLA at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Rastatt.
