Eight months after the cornerstone ceremony for one of the most modern automobile production halls in the world, Mercedes-Benz Cars for the first time gives an insight into the operating principles of “Factory 56”.

Electric drive systems and automated driving are key technologies for the mobility of the future. And secondly, empathy and trust are central factors for the acceptance of self-driving vehicles. The new GLS is Mercedes-Benz’s largest and most luxurious SUV and, above all, offers more: more space, more comfort, more luxury. The confident presence of its exterior stems from its impressive dimensions, which are even larger than those of its predecessor (length +77 mm, width +22 mm). One of the benefits of the 60 mm longer wheelbase is interior spaciousness, especially in the second row. The three fully electrically adjustable seat rows offer all passengers a generous amount of space and outstanding seating comfort. The seats in the third row can be lowered into the floor to increase the boot space (up to 2,400 litres), while the seats in the second row fold flat. Furthermore, a six-seater variant with two luxury individual rear seats in the second seat row is available for the first time.

With the Concept GLB at Auto Shanghai (18 to 25 April 2019), Mercedes-Benz shows what SUV ideas on the company’s compact car platform might also be realised alongside the GLA as a sporty all-rounder. While the latter promises progressive driving enjoyment with its coupé-like lines, the Concept GLB places the emphasis on spaciousness and robustness. The concept car (length/width/height: 4,634/1,890/1,900* millimetres) has space for up to seven occupants thanks to its long wheelbase (2,829 millimetres). A number of sturdy features signal that the Concept GLB feels right at home on rough farm tracks.

Sporty, stylish, intelligent and dynamic: the new CLA 35 4MATIC is the latest point of entry to the world of Mercedes-AMG and is more strongly lifestyle-oriented. The four-door coupé shares the progressive technology with the A-Class produced in Affalterbach, but is even bolder with its iconic design and the intelligent MBUX interior assistant.
