We as the church (i.e. Christians) are called to faithful obedience by being faithfully present -- despite significant inconvenience(s) -- as faithful witness of God's glory!
The Christian life is a continual renewed commitment to Jesus, which flows from a conviction and confession of who He is.
Christians make exclusive truth claims when it comes to Jesus and the way of salvation. But this exclusivity that's baked into the Christian faith should in no way make us arrogant or oppressive towards those outside. Quite the opposite. It makes us humble. It makes us servants. It makes us like Jesus.
When we're living against the grain of the universe and out of alignment with God's world, we will inevitably keep butting up against evidence and experiences that don't fit within our paradigm or worldview. We'll continue to be confronted by "inconvenient truths." When such a confrontation occurs, it is ours to decide: will we let God lead us back to reality and truth, or will we double down on our lies?
To love God and neighbor in the name of Jesus is to throw yourself open to all manner of risk and danger. When you open your heart, or your home, or your hand, or your mouth in love for God and others-you're going to get hurt, you're going to get rejected; it's not always going to be easy or comfortable... or safe. But it is the way that the kingdom of God advances in this world. And it's thrilling!
When we see God for who He truly is, we will not only feel conviction for our sins, but also be freed to confess our sins.
Peter uses the miracle of this lame man healed in the name of Jesus as a launchpad to preach the good news of Jesus. The miracle and the message always go together. Jesus can heal the body, but he's coming after the heart and soul!
We may feel like this man in the dirt. Broken, hopeless, ostracized, and alone. But Jesus is both the "Christ" and "of Nazareth." He is both high and exalted and with us in the dirt. He alone, therefore, is able to meet us in our suffering and carry us out!
God's Word, by His Spirit, reforms our minds, our hearts and our lives, into Christ-likeness for our well-being and the glory of God!
