Jesus' resurrection unleashes God's new creation! Do you feel tired of the same old, same old? Christ has come to make all things new!
As God has reconciled us to Him through Christ Jesus, He has also commissioned us to be His ambassadors in His mission of reconciliation.
There's grumbling in the camp. This early church is threatening to fracture and divide from the start. The way they respond here makes all the difference. As we consider their response, we learn what a healthy church looks like, how a healthy church operates, even in —especially in —trying times.
We're all regularly faced with decisions we have to make and forks in the road we have to navigate. Everyone seems to have an opinion as to what we should do and where we should go. But how, in the midst of this noise, do we ever begin to discern God's will for us? Where do we even start?
As people created and renewed in the image of God, we are called to love one another in community through our words, hands, and hearts-as Christ has loved and forgiven us.
We often think of work as a "four-letter word." It's more of a burden than a blessing. It's a "necessary evil." We spend much of our lives doing it hoping only to someday be done with it. But God views our work differently. He created it, before the Fall, as something good. And, in Christ, he's redeeming it to be as such once more!
The apostles in our text are not just rejoicing in spite of their suffering. They're actually rejoicing in light of it. But how? Why? Are they crazy? Or do they know something we don't? What if we could have joy like this: a joy that can't be taken from us-resilient, lasting, stable? Wouldn't you want that? In Jesus we can have it!
We're all chasing after joy, but few of us ever really find it, at least in a lasting way. But that's what Jesus offers! For the Christian, God is both in control and up to good in their lives, however hard things may get at times. And because of this we can rejoice. though sometimes it's still through tears.
We follow what we fear. The Christian is a journey of growing faith & fear in God - above and beyond our other fears.
