'Merican Midterms

Democrats maintain Senate control and the Republicans eye the House. Matt breaks down early election results and says goodbye.

Matt and Congressman Himes discuss the outlook for Democrats this election day, his recent trip to Ukraine, and balancing the 2nd amendment with gun safety. But first, Matt breaks down what to expect on election day.

This is an incredible conversation that covers many issues important to voters. Thank you for listening!

Matt talks with Pastor and Professor Wayne Lavender about how quickly Americans move to the next piece of news, Biden's pardoning of federal offenses for possessing marijuana, and how the Christian Right has shaped American politics. Wayne brings years of experience improving the world around him and is guided by his belief in peace and justice for all citizens of the world. He has written 5 books and is the Executive Director of Foundation 4 Orphans.

Republicans see a slew of favorable polls that bode well for their quest to take control of Congress. Matt and Senator Bob Duff discuss what makes Connecticut unique, what's at stake this election cycle, and man's best friend.

Democrats are in a good position to keep control of the Senate as Republicans eye flipping the House. CT Republican Running for Congress, Jayme Stevenson, comes on to discuss policing, political divisiveness and leading through difficult times.

Disclaimer: The interview at 5:08 is not up to the quality of sound we have for our previous interviews. This was due to equipment malfunctions. Regardless the conversation with Jayme Stevenson sheds light on important issues surrounding this year's midterms. You can expect other episodes to have greatly improved sound quality.

This episode features updates on the senate races in Arizona, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Nevada, some of the closest in the nation. I also hop on a call with Rep Sean Scanlon, the Dem nominee for CT Comptroller and Executive Director at Tweed Airport where we discuss airport puns, mental health, and the state/national economies.

Biden and Desantis shake hands, Matt and 14-time Emmy winner Tim Malloy discuss Georgia, Bidens rise in approvals and taking criticism from politicians.

UPDATE: Reporting came out after the recording of this episode asserting that Herschel Walker, staunch Pro-Lifer, paid for an ex-girlfriend's abortion. It remains to be seen how this bombshell report will affect his already bumpy campaign to become Georgia’s next senator but I’d be shocked if his polling numbers don’t worsen.
