Merit-based hiring is making a comeback. The federal government has now officially dropped a policy going back over 40 years that, until now, held that tests to ensure government employees were qualified for their jobs were discriminatory. The shift in policy aims to ensure the government is now hiring based on skill.

And in other news, a special counsel investigation has now been opened into former special counsel Jack Smith. This happens as the Trump administration moves to investigate key figures involved in the disproven Trump–Russia narrative going back to the 2016 election.
