Welcome to our Christmas episode. This week we take a moment to reflect on how important this season is for us and just what Christmas means. For the first time we really dig in, to share our faith and our hearts for Jesus. We touch on how we came to know Him and how we are pursuing Him in this season. Our hope is that this talk makes you slow down and remember all that was given for us to celebrate this amazing season and be a little more grateful for the beautiful crazy lives we have been given.

Why is it so darn funny when kids get hurt? Or when toddlers cuss? All those little things your tiny humans do to make you think …”am I a terrible parent?” This week we jump head first into Mom Fails. Those moments we try to forget but can’t help laughing at when we remember. Some are serious, others are more entertaining but the one thing they all have in common is that we genuinely questioned our parenting capabilities at the time they happened. We are hoping there is a sense of camaraderie in the fact that we are all just doing our best. Even if our best looks a little messy.

When you think about seeing family over the holidays does National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation come to mind? A little bit of crazy mixed in with a bunch of opinions and a lot of time spent thinking who are all these hooligans I am related to? We start from the beginning of our experiences all the way back to boyfriend and girlfriend days and end where we are today with our own families and what we are trying to do to make the best of the time we have. We don’t have all the answers but we touch on opinions, imposter syndrome, family fighting, and most importantly showing those you love grace, because at the end of the day no matter how crazy, loud, opinionated or anything in between your family is, they are family and we love them just the same.

When you read the books on motherhood you will realize a very important chapter seems to have been missed….mom guilt. This week we dive into this subject with a passion because let’s be real, this is something moms struggle with hard. Whether you are a first time mom, a mom of three or a mom of big kids, the struggle is real. Finding that balance between loving your child and loving yourself is something we all long for and we try our best to share our journeys so far. We touch on how our guilt has changed with the number of kids but also with our work circumstances, plus we explain how we both have evaluated our guilt and coped with it. This is a hard road that we can do our best to outline for you but it’s a chapter you will write on your own. So remember you are incredible, we are here to support you and being a mom is hard, but at the end of the day it’s totally worth it.

Let’s give a big round of applause to the men behind the mess, the husbands! Dustin and Jason (or J as he is referred to around here) join us this week to share their side of the stories. Let’s be honest we were both a little nervous, but they crushed it, we asked them some of the bigger questions we previously discussed on our first few episodes and got their perspective. We talk about the good (and bad) of marriage, becoming dads and so much more. We also laugh at just about everything because let’s be honest that is at the heart of our friendship and it wouldn’t be a conversation with us without it. Our group dynamic was revealed with two internalizers and two extroverts, any guesses who is whom. We loved having them with us and hope you do too and MAYBE they will get an invite back.
