On today's podcast I talk with Ellie Bassick-Trovato about cultivating joy in our lives, rediscovering what makes us unique and allows us to shine most brightly in this world and about moving through the world with a lens and voice of love.
During our conversation Ellie explains why an inside-out joy practice, instead of seeking external sources of joy, is so important. She shares her perspective on leading with love and explains the significance of discovering our "A Game" or our "Zone" to ensure our activities are aligned with our strengths and passions, and so we are open to the messages the "universe" will send us.
Throughout this episode, you will gain valuable insights about why cultivating joy and leading with love are powerful practices that can transform our lives for the better. and you will get a better understanding of how to embrace your uniqueness, practice Joy Mind Training, and approach life with love in order to create a more joyful existence.
Eillie Bassick-Trovato is a speaker, a best-selling author, and the recent author of The Joy Spiral Playbook: Discover the surprising path to a life filled with joy. She helps women tap into their limitless potential, connect with their radiance, and elevate their emotions and relationships. She uses a compelling and effective blend of brain science, spirituality, and quantum physics to help her clients integrate knowledge into their lived experience to truly transform their lives.
The journey to where Ellie is now was filled with challenges. Through the death of her husband and of both her parents as well as her own battles with depression, she developed a resilience beyond what she could have imagined. She demonstrates that you can emerge from the darkest of times as a beacon of love, hope, and possibility. Her mission is to unleash the power of love to uplift the vibration of the planet. On today's episode I am having a discussion about Discovering Joy as Your Birthright with Dr. Tanmeet Sethi. Sr Sethi is a renowned Integrative Family physician and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine and has dedicated the past 25 years to working with the most marginalized communities and global survivors of major traumatic events. Dr. Sethi is also a TEDx speaker and the author of the inspiring book, "Joy is My Justice: Reclaim What Is Yours."
Dr. Sethi's book emphasizes the importance of living joyfully regardless of circumstances, and in this podcast episode she shares her philosophy on why joy is our birthright and how we can claim it in our lives. She also shares her personal journey that led her to this belief and how it transformed her perspective on life.
Dr. Sethi also clarifies the distinction between joy and happiness, providing insights into their unique characteristics and how they affect our well-being differently. She explains why rediscovering joy should be viewed as an ongoing practice rather than a destination or solution, and she elaborates on how this approach can aid in healing from past traumas.
As the conversation continues, Dr. Sethi shares some of the common reasons many of us struggle with finding/cultivating joy and provides practical tools to help us rediscover joy in our lives.
Lastly, we will discuss why Dr. Sethi's challenges the mainstream wellness definition of resilience and her unique perspective on what true resilience means in the face of adversity. Including the exploration of the question "why not me" instead of "why me".

A healthy sleep pattern is vital for our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. When we consistently get enough high-quality sleep, we experience improved cognitive function, enhanced memory, and better concentration. It also supports a healthy immune system, promotes physical recovery, and helps regulate our hormones.
Conversely, inadequate sleep can have profound effects on our mental health and weight management. Sleep deprivation can lead to increased levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. It affects our emotional regulation and can contribute to mood disorders. Additionally, inadequate sleep disrupts the hormones responsible for appetite regulation, often leading to increased cravings for unhealthy food and weight gain.
Listen in to this episode as I talk with Funke Afolabi-Brown, MD, a triple board-certified sleep medicine physician, about the importance of sleep, common misconceptions of sleep, tips for getting optimized sleep, harnessing sleep as a superpower, and recognizing the immense potential that lies within a good night's rest.
We'll discuss things like optimizing sleep habits by establishing a consistent sleep schedule, why it's helpful to establish a bedtime routine that signals to your body that it's time to unwind, the different stages of sleep and their significance, how watching TV in bed and taking naps can impact sleep, and sleep aids like melatonin.
Dr. Brown is a speaker, coach, educator, writer, and the founder of RestfulSleepMD, where she helps busy professionals and organizations prioritize sleep to achieve their optimal health and thrive and live to their fullest potential.
As a physician in practice for over a decade and a mom of two who struggled with sleep issues, she fully understands the impact of sleep deprivation on our mental, physical and emotional health. As a result, she has dedicated her career to helping professional women be their best selves. She does this through speaking, coaching, workshops, courses, and programs focused on educating and empowering busy professional women to make sleep a priority as a critical pillar of their health.
She is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and The American Thoracic Society. She is also on the medical advisory board of Baby Center and the expert advisory board of Project Sleep.
