In 2003, Krys Pappius was living what many would call “a good life”. She was in her 10th year of a career as a police officer, and as far as anyone was concerned, she was successful. Then she was in a serious car crash that shook her up both physically and emotionally. She realized that while she had all the signs of success, her life was unfulfilling and boring. She realized that she was a people pleaser who no longer knew who she was or what she wanted in life.
In that moment, Krys promised herself things would change, that she would do whatever it took to create a life for herself that had meaning and purpose. It took Krys several years of searching to discover the secret to creating that life she longed for and a few more to create the life in which she does what she wants, when she wants, and says “no” to the rest, guilt-free.
As a Mindset Coach, Krys’ mission is to share what she learned with other women who are tired of being people pleasers, tired of feeling stuck and uncertain as they look to the future, and who are ready to take action now to create a life they love.

Dr. Brittany Clayborne is a mother that has been faced with many challenges.
She was in perfect health until a heart attack during labor at 26 years of age with a condition called Peripartum Cardiomyopathy. Most people recover from this disease within a few months to a few years, but a very small percentage do not and go on to need further medical care. That was Brittany's case and since that diagnosis in 2010 Brittany "died" & had to be defibrillated 6 times.
From June 2015 until August 2016 Brittany spent a total of 9 months in the hospital away from her son because her heart was so weak. During those 9 months she spent her “free time” starting a non-profit, Heart Unfailure (now Brittany Speaks), to educate on organ donation, as well as earning her Master’s Degree. At the end of that 9 months, on the heart transplant list but with no heart in sight, Brittany wanted to get back to living with her son and pushed to be released from the hospital. Her heart was so weak however that she had to have a Left Ventricular Assist Device or LVAD so that she could leave on a battery- operated heart.
After waiting for 3 years, Brittany received her heart transplant and finally her new heart was in and working well. Then in December of 2018 Brittany was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma. Throughout 2019 Brittany under went chemotherapy, radiation, and cell therapy to finally be declared cancer free in 2020.
During various stages of Brittany’s illness, she sought a therapist that was able to help her process her critical illnesses. When her search continuously came up empty
Brittany decided to pursue her Doctorate in Psychology and received her degree in 2021.
During her sickness, Brittany decided to dedicate her time and effort to the things that truly moved her soul, and in that pursuit, she found her love for speaking. Brittany’s ability to connect to a myriad of different people with her honesty, humor, and animated enthusiasm brings her story to life in transformative, passion driven, and unique ways. Credited with having “The mind of a doctor and the heart of a patient,” Brittany speaks to share a story that will bring perseverance and grace with a bit of humor to the journey of life and to remind us of all that no matter what we face we can overcome.

For those of you following along with our book choices in the Private Face Book Group you know that we have been reading Just a Thought by Dr. Amy Johnson. Just a Thought is a self-help book that teaches us that our minds are like machines, like computers. They constantly spit out repetitive stories. They love to replay the past and predict the future. They have conviction over their beliefs. Our minds love drama and exaggeration. Our minds live to create identities for us and then work like crazy to provide evidence that supports those identities and to filter out any evidence that contradicts those identities. Our minds lie! It doesn’t matter who you are, our minds fundamentally work the same. Yes we all have different experiences, and some of the details of our stories are different, but in general the functionality of our minds is the same.

Join me for a conversation with Maria Jordan, The Wise Woman Coach.
Maria is a Midlife Transformation Coach and helps women experiencing big life transitions, who have lost sight of who they are!
She guides them through their unique journey from Lost to Found; to remember the woman they once were AND discover the woman they are becoming. So, they emerge feeling confident, empowered and with a strong sense of self.
As a child, Maria was persistently bullied which resulted in low self-worth and a particularly detrimental people-pleasing habit! In her forties, Maria underwent what she now fondly refers to as “the great unravelling;” experienced through the loss of her career, home, bereavement, and divorce. This was the catalyst for her spiritual awakening and rebirth.
The priceless gift within such loss was that through inner work and healing, Maria finally found herself!
She discovered that she is a sensitive soul who feels things deeply and decided to fully embrace this gift to help herself and positively impact the lives of other women.
