Remember the Sabbath Day. Is the commandment to remember the Sabbath Day just about going to church? As a pastor I'd love it if more people were in church on Sunday's, but there is definitely more to this. It is not just about when we should work and when we should relax... the key to understand the deeper levels of this commandment, is to know what kind of "labor" we should be doing for the 6 days leading up to the Sabbath.

How do we behave in times of injustice? What can we do? It is our duty to stand up to injustice, to stand against evil, and to stand up for our neighbor. These are paramount to creating a better world. Without them, we fall into chaos.

What is so significant about the second commandment, to "not take the name of the Lord your God in vain," that it is the only commandment to have the consequences spelled out? What does it mean on a spiritual level to take His name in vain?

The first of the Lord's commandments is that we should have no other gods before Him. This feels like an easy one to check the box on, but there is a lot more to it than having faith in the right god. This commandment actually addresses our whole motivation in life.

In the story of Jesus and the centurion, Jesus allows himself to be interrupted. He does this all the time! And for a Jew and Gentile to interact in such a way at such a time exemplifies the power of healing. So maybe let's take a note from Jesus and allow some interruptions.
