If you haven't looked at your calendar, Easter is in fact on the day that we play practical jokes and pranks on our friends. In the history of the early church some of the most respected theologians advocated that Easter be a time for joy and levity. They even got together and told jokes to make one another laugh "the Easter laugh." The reasoning was that on Good Friday, Satan and the forces of evil were sure that they had won a great victory--they had defeated and done away with God's Son. But the last laugh was on the Evil one because, God raised His Son in a glorious victory over sin, death and the Devil. That is the reason for our deep joy. Nothing, not even death, can come between us and the God that has loved us with such a wondrous love.
