Founding Pastor Rick Duncan guides us into week twelve of "Voyage," the Summer 2016 teaching series in the book of Acts. Pastor Rick will be looking at three chapters: Acts 21-23. Paul had an I am ready (Acts 21:13) attitude about the unfolding plan of God for his life. Paul's perspective was that God was sovereign and that He could use Paul's imprisonment or even death for His divine purposes. And that confidence and trust gave him an ability to trust in God in spite of his circumstances. His up-look determined his out-look. In this message, we will be asking ourselves if we have an I am ready mindset so, like Paul, we can face life's uncertainties with faith, hope, love, and joy.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen guides us into the eleventh week of the Summer 2016 teaching series "Voyage" through the book of Acts as he looks at Acts 20:17-38. God is faithful and by God's grace we can be faithful. Paul calls the Ephesian elders to him at Miletus. Its his final goodbye to them, so this is an emotionally charged moment. The summary of all his comments revolve around faithfulness. By God's grace I have been faithful (his review of his ministry), by God's grace I will be faithful (as tribulation looms in Jerusalem), and by God's grace you be faithful (his call to the elders to watch themselves and the flock). Faithfulness inspires, it fulfills, its life-giving and most of all it glorifies God.

In our continuing series "Voyage," Pastor of Men's LifeGroups Dale Piscura brings us into Acts 19 after Lead Pastor Chad Allen covered Acts 18 on Facebook Live this past week. Pastor Dale will discuss the fact that we must examine ourselves and live in the Spirit. because only Jesus can live the Christian life and He lives in you through the Holy Spirit. Pastor Dale will be looking at Acts 19:1-20.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen takes us further into the book of Acts during our Summer 2016 teaching series, "Voyage" as he looks at Acts 16 and 17. The Christian life is a life of submission for the mission of Christ. Our decisions and actions reveal our level of submission. What are some of those actions and decisions? We will discover four of them by looking at Paul, Timothy, Silas, Luke, and the Bereans during the second missionary journey. These all serve as examples of how God uses submission in the life of Christ-followers.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen wraps up the end of Acts 15 in "Voyage," our Summer 2016 teaching series in the book of Acts. Pastor Chad looks at the split between Paul and Barnabas in Acts 15:36-41. In addition to looking at these six verses, Chad will address the happenings in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Dallas, Texas, this past week. Names like Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, Officer Brent Thompson, Officer Patrick Zamarripa, and Officer Michael Krol now fill our thoughts with the tragedy of the loss of life that has occurred in the past few days. Pastor Chad will interview a couple of CVC members about their feelings as he ministers to all of us in this time of many questions and very few answers.

Pastor Rick follows up last week's message with this look at Acts 15:1-35 where he will look at the historic doctrinal controversy in the early church: Do Gentile believers have to keep Jewish religious law in order to be saved? He will explore the Jerusalem Councils decision stated in Acts 15:11, But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will." And we will see that our encouragement and joy prevail when we understand that its not Jesus, plus that saves. Its Jesus, period that saves.

Founding Pastor Rick Duncan leads us into the sixth week of "Voyage," the continuing series in the book of Acts. Pastor Rick will be looking at Paul and Barnabas' first missionary journey in Acts 13 and 14. We often measure the success of a church by worldly measurements which are the ABCs (attendance, buildings, and cash) or by its seating capacity. God, however, measures the greatness of a church not by its "seating capacity" but by its "sending capacity". In this message, we will seek to learn from the church in Antioch, and we'll celebrate what God did through them to reach the world. Then, we'll celebrate what God has done to reach the world through CVC, and we'll ask ourselves, "What would it look like if we became a church with an even greater 'sending capacity'?"

CVC Young Adults Pastor Josh Stone takes us into the fifth week of "Voyage," the continuing series in the book of Acts. Pastor Josh will be looking at the imprisonment of Peter in Acts 12. No matter the tragedy, the Word of God keeps increasing and multiplying. Why? It is because God will never abandon us (even when it feels like it). It is because God does miracles (even when we don't expect it). It is because God says prayer works (even when we lack faith). It is because God is just (even when we prefer our timing). And it is because Jesus is present with us, was raised from the dead, prayed for us, and is coming again to judge.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen guides us into the fourth week of Voyage, the continuing series on the book of Acts. Chad will look at the lives of the Christians in Antioch in Acts 11:19-30. In every bold and fruitful church are Barnabas-like people. Be a Barnabas. Chad will be touching on the dynamics of the church in Antioch and then zooming in on the role and person of Barnabas. He will focus on the qualities seen in Barnabas and how they were a benefit to the work of God in Antioch. The challenge for us is to be like Barnabas so we that our church can be like the church of Antioch.

Pastor of community life Dean Siley takes a look at Acts 9:32 - 11:18 and a journey through the story not only of the conversion of the first gentile, but in some sense the conversion of Peter, as he and other witness that the Gospel is truly for everyone.
