It is easier and often more comfortable to continue living out the desires of the flesh instead of choosing to walk in wisdom, choosing to embrace your new identity

Efficiency. Life-hacking. Pro-tips. The internet is awash in clickbait articles telling you that they have a proven list of 10 ways to make [insert any aspect of life here] easier. We all want that ease and convenience in life, yet it seems so difficult (if not impossible) to achieve. Yet, who says that an easy life is the only one worth living? In fact, as Christians, we see that following Christ gives us the freedom and peace to experience abundant life, regardless of how difficult the world may be. Joy can be found in this uphill hike of life, and it is found in walking both carefully and in community with brothers and sisters in Christ. CVCYouth Pastor Joe Valenti closes out our series in The Essential Gospel by teaching through Ephesians 4:25-32. Embracing the Gospel of Jesus is more than a one-time event of saying a prayer. It's a relationship that changes our very heart, makes us alive, and transform us in Jesus' image. The traits the Apostle Paul describes in this passage (honesty, gentleness, generosity, graciousness, and kindness) aren't tasks we force ourselves to accomplish. They're the byproduct of a relationship with Jesus and a heart that wants to be more like Christ!

A question to get you thinking before service tomorrow: have you identified your spiritual gifting?

If yes, have you found a way to use that gift for ministry?

If you aren’t sure what you’re gifted in or what that even means, consider this: what are the things you are able to do, are passionate about, and have been affirmed in by others? Some giftings are quite tangible, like teaching. Others can be a bit harder to nail down, like hospitality.

As we dive deeper into what the essential gospel is, we begin to see that a mature gospel understanding comes with realizing that we get to be a part of building God’s kingdom in the here and now! It isn’t proud or arrogant to identify the gifts that God has given you. Quite the opposite! It’s a mark of mature stewardship and praise to see the gifts our heavenly Father gives us and to exercise those in a way that glorifies Him!

Lead Pastor Chad Allen is using one of his giftings this week as he dives into Ephesians 4:7-16 and unpacks the incredible truth that God invites us into His Kingdom work and has already equipped you with the tools to get started!

Humility and gentleness. Patience. Bearing with one another in love. An eagerness to maintain unity in the Spirit.
