Over the next few weeks we are going to take a journey into the concept of an “upside down kingdom.” This is affectionately referred to as what Christ did when he came to earth to usher in the Kingdom of God. He lived, acted, taught and portrayed a complete contrasting way of life for those who are followers of Christ. It is these principles and precepts that look contrary to the world’s kingdom, which is why we call it the upside down kingdom. Today we begin with step one: Understanding the Kingdom of God.

The gospel according to John offers us a different depiction than the rest of the gospels. It is not so much a complete story about everything Christ did, but rather an articulation and exploration of who Christ is and what that means for us. Today, we explore how our faith in Christ hinges upon who He said He is and how these declarations about His life impact ours.

We often can find in our relationship to Christ a developmental deficiency that may hamper our relationship with Christ over time, frequently leading to isolation. In an exploration of Colossians 3:4-17, pastor Andrew points out the critical elements asked of Christ followers, which when acted upon and exercised, are the greatest preventative measures to isolation.

Once a year we take a Sunday and covenant together for the year to come. We remind ourselves of the grace of Christ in our lives and how it motivates us to live as fully devoted followers of Christ. Tomorrow morning we celebrate the ideas of authentic community as well as how life in Christ drives us to carry that community one to another.
