Genesis is historical narrative for numerous reasons outlined. We must give credence to Genesis as literal history or we start unraveling the rest of the bible because it often refers to Genesis 1 as historical fact.

The scriptures are clear that everything is created in six days, and the only reason to insert billions of years via a gap theory is because of the pressure of the majority view of atheistic science. Is scripture your highest authority or the common belief of the day?
