This prayer summarizes Paul's hopes for the Thessalonians, that the God of peace would preserve them and sanctify them completely until the end, and he is confident that he Lord will bring it to pass because of his faithfulness and sovereign ability.

Have the same mind as Christ and one another in the body of Christ. Jesus had everything in glory in his father's presence, and he gave it up for us, humbling himself, becoming a man and dying on a cross. The god-man Jesus accomplished our salvation and set for us an example of loving selflessness and humility.

Paul exhorts the body of Christ to preserve that unity and peace of the Spirit, the Holy Spirit of God, in order to strive together for the kingdom and God's work.

We have been saved by Jesus and we are now citizens of the Kingdom of God, of Zion, as Paul explains in Phil 3:20. As citizens, we should be conducting ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, standing firm and striving together in one spirit for the faith of the gospel.

Conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.
