    AFTERBURN:
Some of the topics covered are:
    • Can an introvert change into an extrovert?
    • Things will go better if you don’t fight it…
    • What about a spouse who is antagonistic toward you and your faith?
    • Why are you here?
    • You can’t keep a committed person down…
    • Be careful when, as a part of a group, that you don’t take ownership…

    … and much more!

Afterburn: also known in the world of fitness as the “afterburn effect”, simply put; The more intense the exercise, the more oxygen your body consumes afterward.

The same could be true as you build up your spiritual self. After an intense teaching session, you need answers as more thoughts and questions consume you in your spiritual growth.

Rabbi Steve Berkson, director of MTOI, provides an opportunity for the Afterburn to take place by additional thoughts and insight about what he just taught as well as answering questions from the local congregation and those watching the live stream.

  • Episode 642: Love and Torah | Part 40

Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.

On the Holy Day of Shavuot, Rabbi Berkson continues to unpack Romans chapter 12, helping us understand the meaning behind the writing to that assembly of that time and what it has to do with us today.

What does it mean to “offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, which is our ‘reasonable service’?

What does it look like to “think more highly of yourself than you should think”? Rabbi Berkson goes deep into verse 3 to show what that means.

What is the “measure of belief” that verse 3 mentions?

What are the “gifts” that are listed in verses 6-8? Are they “spiritual gifts”?

Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.

  • Episode 640: Love and Torah | Part 39
Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.

During the weekend of Shavuot Rabbi Steve Berkson brings a prelude to the Love and Torah teaching about what Shavuot means in your life – a dedication of your life to living in the belief of who and what Messiah Yeshua really is and becoming like Him.

Then, going to 2 John, Rabbi Berkson breaks down the first few verses as John is writing to a family that he may be discipling. The elder reminds them of the important commandment to walk in love in the way the Father desires us all to walk.

In verse 7 John warns about associating with certain people that could derail the faith of this family. Among this warning John uses the term “anti-Messiah”. Rabbi Berkson explains this term in understandable detail.

What does it mean to “possess both the Father and the Son”? (2 John 9)

From there Rabbi Berkson moves us to Romans 12 and unpacks the intent of the writer as we read about presenting ourselves as a sacrifice and offering, not conforming to the “mindset of” the world and knowing what is the perfect desire and will of the Father.

Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.

Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.

What is it that the Body of Messiah “struggles with” when putting into practice loving your Elohim and loving your neighbor?

In this teaching Rabbi Steve Berkson gives four key points to attaining a critical part of your walk, which is as the Apostle Paul wrote, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Messiah Yeshua…”

Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.

  • Episode 637: Love and Torah | Part 37
Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.

As he begins this teaching, Rabbi Steve Berkson brings out the big guns as he challenges you to understand and take action regarding what it is you really struggle with – you.

    • Why is it you seem to struggle with your relationships and with yourself?

Rabbi Berkson takes us into Philippians 2 to unpack what the Apostle Paul wrote to the assembly in Philippi regarding how they should conduct themselves in his absence. Paul exhorts those in that assembly to take on the mind of Messiah Yeshua and in doing so, considering others better than themselves in humility and having an awareness of the other’s needs.

    • Are you aware that what you may be doing at any given moment may be creating an adverse condition for somebody else?
    • Are you giving to other’s and the Father the kind of attention that’s necessary for a flourishing relationship?
    • What is meant by “leadership serving” and “submissive serving”?
    • What are the differences between unity, uniformity and conforming?
    • Did Messiah Yeshua or His Apostles ever make the message of the Kingdom “palatable” for their listeners?
    • We all have our own emotional preferences, but when can those be a bad thing?
    • Are you the kind of person Yahweh can ‘trust’ with forever?
    • Is there grumbling, complaining and disputing in the Body of Messiah?

Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.

  • Episode 636: Love and Torah | Part 36
Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.

Starting off in this teaching, Rabbi Berkson clarifies a couple of things, one of which being the authority given to the husband from scripture. It seems that some people misinterpreted what Rabbi said in the last teaching to the point that it could be very troublesome in some marriages. So, Rabbi Steve takes the opportunity to give some “Covenant-Live Coaching” for married couples, those looking to be married soon and those who should not be in an intimate relationship yet, teenagers.

Then moving into Ephesians chapter 6, Rabbi Berkson addresses the children and “servants”.

Which commandment is for the children and the only one with a promise? Could this commandment have a deeper, more far-reaching interpretation?

Paul wrote to the fathers to not “provoke” their children…what does this mean?

Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.

Who are the servants to whom Paul refers?
