Dealing with the idea of “Waiting, Seeking, and Being strong”, Rabbi Steve Berkson takes us to Isaiah chapter 51 in order to get a glimpse of what “His world” will look like. For one thing, “His world” is going to have in it those who “pursue righteousness”. (vs 1) For another thing, “His world” will be filled with the Light of His Torah. (vs 4) In order for us to make it into “His world” we must have an expectancy, a hope of all that Yah has promised to those who are His.

Then moving into the Psalms Rabbi Berkson shows us the one verse that could solve all of our problems with fear and anxiety.

From the Psalms we go to Jeremiah chapter 30 and learn a little about the two houses, Judah and Israel, and that the doctrine of Replacement Theology has no standing in scripture.

Guard. Walk. Do. Sounds like covenant again, right? Rabbi Berkson takes us to Leviticus chapter 26 and shows us by the words of the Creator the promise of peace that will be in His world.

Then on to the prophet Micah chapter 4 as Yahweh says His mountain will be above all mountains and His house will be there from where the Torah will go out to judge and teach all. In this section Rabbi Berkson has a very different thought on verse 5 that you have probably never heard before.

We all are born with our own desires and passions, but are they right and good for us? What about Yah’s desires and passions? Is it possible for our’s to meld with His?

Does “all” always mean “all”? What is the default reaction to being afraid of something? What intimidates you?

Beginning this teaching in Numbers/Bemidbar chapter 14, Rabbi Steve Berkson explains some of the aspects of human behavior when confronted with the unknown or the perception of something terrifying. This is the event of the leaders of Israel going in and spying out the promised land and then the slanderous report brought back by ten of those leaders.

From there Rabbi Berkson goes to Romans chapter 8 to help us understand the meaning of the difference between the Spirit and flesh, and the law of sin and death. Without this understanding the chapter will be interpreted incorrectly.

In this teaching Rabbi Steve Berkson starts in Deuteronomy 20 to look at how being afraid and having peace do not go together. How do we today “do battle” with others? What’s the “fear factor” in those situations? When the situation feels overwhelming, what do you do? How does leadership fit into the picture?

Then moving into Numbers chapters 13 and 14 Rabbi Berkson shows us how fear is contagious and that there was a failure of leadership when Israel went to spy out the promised land. Why did they have to “spy out” the land?

Are you afraid of change? Rabbi Berkson gets into a bit of life-coaching about jobs or careers and how the fear of change can seep into your walking with Yah.

From there, Rabbi Berkson moves into the issue of “evil speaking”, in the Hebrew “Lashon hara”, literally, “evil tongue”. He relates from the perspective of his organization MTOI and the things that people have said against him and MTOI. He shares some behind-the-scenes details of what others have said with the intention of influencing others in a negative way. Is there another ministry that would be this transparent?

What are you afraid of? Is being afraid wreaking havoc with your peace? As he takes us to Exodus 14:1-15, Rabbi Steve Berkson breaks down the story of the Israelites leaving Egypt defiantly, but when they come to the water’s edge they become afraid. The water is in front of them, mountains are on each side and Pharaoh with his army is behind them trapping them. Moses then says, “Do not be afraid.”

What can you do when you feel overwhelmed by the things that life will throw at you? Rabbi Berkson breaks down Deuteronomy 7:17-23 to help you understand that your being overwhelmed is an opportunity to exercise your belief/emunah in Him and experience deliverance and peace.

Then moving on from there, Rabbi Berkson takes us to Deuteronomy 18:13-22 where we see instruction being given to Israel for dealing with leadership, namely prophets. The first thing this passage instructs is to ‘have integrity’. Respect the anointed/appointed leadership that you have placed yourself under. But when someone presents themselves as a “prophet” and then shows that he/she is not a prophet, you are not to be afraid of them.
