  • From Lawyer to Health Coach: A Journey of Resilience, Transformation & Advocacy

    Send us Fan Mail

    Ceinwen Lloyd

Having spent 25 years as a lawyer, I decided to make the change to become a health coach in 2023. Having been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 10, I have struggled with the impact of long-term health issues, and understand the difficulties people face when coping with ill-health. I suffered kidney failure in 2011, and was fortunate to have a kidney and pancreas transplant. I was able to return to work and fulfil many of my career and life ambitions, but became disenchanted with the legal process, and realised that the stressful environment was having an impact on my own physical and mental health and those around me, so began to investigate how I could make a change to create a better and healthier life for myself and others. What I learned led me down a path of discovery into health and behavioural change coaching. I am undergoing studies to qualify as a Registered Health Coach, and also as a Registered Nutritionist. With my background I want to help effect change at a national level, and am working with the UKIHCA, the profession’s regulatory body, to gain more standing in government, and to ensure that the profession has the voice it deserves to refocus on the prevention of ill-health rather than the cure.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who helps people use ketogenic dietary therapy as a treatment for mental illness and neurological issues. I use a variety of nutritional and functional methods of treatment in my work and provide evidence-based psychotherapy modalities in adult client populations.

I am a seasoned psychotherapist with expertise in mental health and neurological disorders, helping individuals implement metabolic psychiatry diet and lifestyle changes through guidance and behavioral coaching as a nonprescriber.

After having my own profound health experience with dietary changes involving therapeutic carbohydrate restriction, I began to become interested in nutritional therapy for neurological disorders and mental illness. I began to talk about food choices with my clients and use my therapy skills to help clients remove resistance to behavioral change and learn how to use nutrition to feed and heal their brains. I noticed how much better psychotherapy worked on people who were giving their brains and bodies what they needed to work well.

I am one of seven pioneers of Metabolic Psychiatry recognized by the Baszucki Brain Research Fund and the Milken Institute with the Metabolic Mind Award in 2022

  • Optimism is the KEY to healthy longevity

    Send us Fan Mail

Victor Perton is "That Optimism Man", whose daily habits include asking people, "What makes you Optimistic?" and "What's been the best thing in your Day?"

Victor is the Chief Optimist Officer of The Centre for Optimism, a think tank. He is the author of "Optimism: The How and Why."

Victor's research shows that infectious optimism is at the heart of good leadership, strategy, innovation, resilience and successful change and transformation.  Small habit changes may be all it takes for a leader to be infectiously optimistic.

Victor deeply explored the connection between joy and optimism in 2023. He summarizes it as follows: "An optimistic spirit experiences more joy. A joyful soul tends to be more optimistic."

Victor's Masterclasses teach a magnetic optimism at the core of leadership.

Victor balances all this by serving as a Board Member of Yarra Valley Water and Chair of its "Leadership, Culture and Wellbeing" Committee.    He is also an elected Board Member of Vicwater, representing the interests of water utilities and catchment management authorities.

He teaches "Great Public Policy" and related subjects at the Australian Public Service Academy.

Victor's life work has included eighteen years as a member of the Victorian Parliament, Trade Commissioner to the Americas, Senior Adviser to the Australian G20 Presidency and occasionally as a Barrister.

  • The Psychology of Metabolic Wellbeing

    Send us Fan Mail

    Janet Frank

I left a career as a psychologist for sales. It was true that I left to pursue a lifelong curiosity about business and marketing. What I didn't emphasize is that I was symptomatic from Hashimoto's (an autoimmune thyroid disorder) and an undiagnosed gluten intolerance, and it was difficult to sustain the work. I took a 14-year detour, working with amazing mentors in sales and sales coaching. I also used that time to learn to manage my health and thrive.

When I learned that health coaching had emerged as a profession, I made the decision that day to pursue certification. 60% of people in the US have a chronic disease, and we are getting heavier and sicker by the day. Physicians do not have time to spend with patients on lifestyle and habit change - those take time. Health coaching can as broad as what wellness means to you. Functional medicine (I am functionally trained) looks at the root causes of disease and at the entire person, and that includes diet and lifestyle. I have evolved into niches of emotional eating and work-life balance, but am happy to work with you around any aspect of your wellness.

I have part-time employment which I really enjoy, and I maintain a small private practice. I invite you to contact me for a complimentary 30-minute consultation at [email protected] to see if health coaching is right for you (I offer group and 1:1 coaching). You're welcome to review my website at www.janetfrankcoaching.com and subscribe for updated articles. If you're a leader of a team or part of an organization, I'd be happy to talk with you about presentations which can be done in person if you're local, or virtually, with geography as no obstacle.
