On this episode of Rock & Roll Detention, Metal Mayhem ROC Hosts Metal Walt, Ian O’Rourke & Vinyl Vince McDowell take a thorough look into some of the major Heavy Metal bands that replaced their original Singers during the 1990s: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue & Anthrax.
We discuss the changing industry & Metal scene in the 90s, what prompted each of these bands to change their original Singer & how & why the new Singers were recruited. In addition, we examine what impact the changes had on the band, including if the band’s sound changed, what it did to the reputation of the band, & the effect it had on stage & in the live setting. Also, we take a big look into the new music that made at that time, dissecting many of the albums & songs & we have an honest throwdown as to if the new material was better or worse than the prior catalog. In the end, we conclude on the sustainability & longevity on each of the Singers & who fared the best & why, both then & now. And of course, we settle on what ultimately happened, in the end, for each band to eventually decide to go back to the original Singers: Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, Vince Neil & Joey Belladonna.
Another example of a great, unique, conversation filled with in-depth anecdotes and disclosures found only here at Metal Mayhem ROC.
