You can't control what stands in your way, but you can control whether you keep walking. Jesus stayed the course not because His life was easy, but because He knew where He was going. That's the kind of man we're called to be: one who doesn't change his values depending on who's in the room, doesn't walk away from God when life gets hard, and keeps his eyes fixed on the Father rather than the crowd.

What if the battle you’re facing isn’t meant to break you, but to build something stronger within you?

In this episode of the My Morning Devotional Podcast, Richelle Alessi begins a new journey through the book of James with James 1:1–8. These verses challenge us to look at trials differently, recognizing that the testing of our faith can produce perseverance, maturity, and a deeper trust in God.

Richelle encourages us to shift our focus from the difficulty of the trial to what God may be developing through it. Instead of only asking, “Why is this happening?” we can begin asking, “God, what are You building in me?”

Others stare at the ceiling worrying about finances, family, work, or the future. We live in a world full of pressure — and most men are carrying burdens they were never meant to carry alone.

Chris Muiña uses Proverbs 3 to point toward the source of a rest that doesn't depend on circumstances. The strongest pillow you'll ever lay your head on is a clear conscience before God. Sweet sleep isn't just the reward of a tiring day — it's the fruit of a heart that trusts God and a life lived in alignment with His wisdom.

The world says security comes from a bigger savings account, a stronger retirement, or having everything under control. God says real security comes from walking with Him. A man who lives with integrity doesn't have to remember which lie he told. A husband who honors his wife has nothing to hide. God's wisdom gives a man confidence without arrogance and stability without perfect circumstances — because his hope rests on a faithful God, not a flawless life.

As men, we spend our lives building: careers, businesses, homes, families, reputations. Every day we're laying bricks that become the legacy we leave behind. But a house can look beautiful from the outside and still have a cracked foundation. The same is true of a man's life.

Today, Chris Muiña draws from Proverbs 3 to ask a question every builder needs to face: how often do we try to build without consulting the Master Builder? The same God who keeps the planets in orbit knows how to lead your family. The same God who established the foundations of the earth knows how to establish your life. Yet too many men climb impressive ladders only to discover they leaned against the wrong wall.

Strength without wisdom eventually becomes exhaustion. God isn't looking for men who simply build bigger — He's looking for men who build wisely. And storms are coming: financial pressure, family challenges, health concerns, unexpected setbacks. The goal isn't to avoid the storm; it's to be standing when it passes. That only happens when a life is built on the solid rock of God's wisdom instead of our own emotions, instinct, and hustle.

Take honest inventory of your foundation. Am I making my biggest decisions based on God's wisdom, or my own? Then choose one area — your marriage, parenting, finances, work, or personal habits — and invite God into it. Before your next significant decision, stop and pray: Lord, show me the wise way to build. One prayer of dependence can save you months, even years, of rebuilding.

Every man is chasing something — success, money, promotions, a bigger house, the next achievement. None of it is wrong. But what if you spent decades mastering how to make a living, and never learned how to build a life?

Host Chris Muiña dives deeper into Proverbs 3 to hold up the one pursuit Solomon calls more valuable than silver, gold, or anything else a man could desire. Money can buy comfort, but it can't buy character. Wealth can open doors, but it can't guarantee good decisions. Success can earn respect, but it can't produce peace. The thing that bridges every one of those gaps is the pursuit most men never prioritize: wisdom.

Wise men aren't born, they're built — one obedient decision at a time. Wisdom isn't reserved for pastors, scholars, or older men; God freely gives it to any man who humbly seeks it. Every day you open His Word, every time you choose His way over your own, every moment you invite Him into your decisions, you're gaining something worth more than anything money can buy. Because real success isn't measured by what you accumulate, it's measured by the wisdom that shapes the man you're becoming.

Look at your calendar and your bank statement. If a stranger studied both, what would they conclude is most important in your life? For most men, the honest answer is uncomfortable — because we tend to give God whatever's left after everything else gets covered.

In this episode, Chris Muiña tackles a principle that cuts straight to the heart of what a man truly trusts. Pulling from Proverbs 3, he reframes a passage most men assume is only about money and reveals what it's actually testing: whether you'll put God first, or just give Him the leftovers.

Passing that test means confronting the "self-made man" myth head-on. Every paycheck, every promotion, every opportunity ultimately comes from the Lord — and honoring Him with your first fruits isn't about the amount, it's about the condition of your heart. Real men don't cling tightly to what God has given them. They hold it with an open hand and live with an open heart, trusting that when they do their part, He takes care of the rest. What a relief it is to live under that.
