The original incarnation of POWERMAN 5000 took shape in Boston Massachusetts, where the group racked up a multitude of local gigs and produced two independent CD releases, 1994’s True Force and 95’s The Blood Splat Rating System. An unrivaled work ethic and growing legion of fans helped secure the band’s dominance in the Boston rock scene, as well as creating a must-have commodity for many major labels.

1997 was a big year for Spider and company; it saw them sign with DreamWorks Records, relocate to Los Angeles and release their major label debut, Mega!! Kung Fu Radio. A year of touring with the likes of Marilyn Manson, Korn and Ozzfest followed, giving them national exposure and further strengthening the bands fan base. Their follow up, 1999’s Tonight The Stars Revolt!, featuring the hits “When Worlds Collide” and "Nobody's Real" went on to sell more than a million copies . “Tonight The Stars Revolt! changed everything.” Spider recalls. “Suddenly we went from being this weird little underground band to having our faces on MTV and our songs played nationwide.”

In the early 1960’s there were many fledgling Scottish bands struggling to create a unique sound of their own. A major factor holding them back was their remoteness from the main hub of the UK music business. London was where you had to be and frankly nobody was interested in what was happening north of Watford let alone in Scotland,

Matters were made even worse by Scottish promoters and ballroom managers who insisted that Scottish groups limit their set-list strictly to covers of singles in the UK top thirty. In other words,

performers like Agnew, Charlton, singer and front man Dan McCafferty, and drummer Darrell Sweet were excluded by 'the machine in London', and yet trapped into mimicking its often dire output as well.

Several things marked these guys out as a bit different: first, they were married and settled before they decided to take the plunge – in the summer of 1971 - quitting good day-jobs and moving away from home to a grotty communal flat in London; second, they grew up and lived in a conservative-attitudes Scottish town, not a bustling fashion-conscious metropolis like Glasgow. Lastly, in bingo millionaire Bill Fehilly, they had what no other struggling Scottish band had at the time - solid financial backing.

The band’s extensive gig schedule brought them to the attention of Pegasus Records, who released the bands debut album in late 1971. Featuring a cover of Tim Rose’s ‘Morning Dew’, ‘Nazareth’ caught on in Germany but wasn’t as successful at home. For the following year’s ‘Exercises’ album, Roy Thomas Baker (who would later work with Queen, Alice Cooper and Foreigner among many others) was promoted from engineer to producer. An early version of ‘Woke Up This Morning’ – a song that Nazareth revived for their next album – and the highland fling of ‘1692 (Glencoe Massacre)’ were the highlights of ‘Exercises’, but more than three decades later, the pair agree that it sounds lightweight and directionless.

Britain in 1973 most definitely was the year of Nazareth, a year when Melody Maker readers voted them Brightest Hope. But if you look at the UK chart placing of follow-up albums to Razamanaz – which reached number 11 – from 1974 what looks like a gradual decline here is more than offset by a series of breakthroughs on the international scene. Whereas Loud'N'Proud reached number 10, Rampant charted with sales nowhere near as strong, and album six Hair Of The Dog failed to chart in Britain but notched up massive sales world-wide.

Seventh Calling is a 100% heavy metal band that has many influences from which it draws its strength. Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metal Church, Slayer, Testament, Grim Reaper, Nevermore, early Metallica and more. Consisting of Steve Handel (guitars/vocals), Alex Ritchey (lead guitar), Michael Poplees (bass) and Shannon Frye (drums), Seventh Calling is able to deliver a high energy live performance that pushes them above many of the other bands that are out there today. Solid vocals, twists on dual guitar attacks, a very solid, rhythm section, are just parts of what creates Seventh Calling's modern heavy metal that has its classic traits present in all aspects.

In 2007 the band released its debut album entitled “Monuments” through the Netherlands based record label Melissa Records to great reviews and a widening fan base. This time period also pushed the band continue it’s pursuit of the live aspect playing with bands such as Cage, Belladonna, Metal Church, Leatherwolf, Doro and Symphony X to name a few.

Seventh Calling is continuing to write for its new album to see the light of day at the end of 2009 and to continue its live assault. Seventh Calling promises to deliver to the fans, the complete best in Heavy Metal!

A gritty, heavily tattooed outfit that infused elements of southern rock and blues into their brand of L.A. sleaze metal. Their no-frills brand of rock'n'roll, where the music mattered more then the image, should have made them household names, but they failed to have much in the way of commercial success.

Formed in Los Angeles by a couple of transplanted Texans in David Roach (vocals) and Chris Gates (guitar, ex-Big Boys). Members came and went before they offered the drum stool to Pat Muzingo, who in turn brought with him bassist Clay Anthony. The final piece of the puzzle was the addition of guitarist Brian Baker, whom Gates knew from the punk circuit when he was in such bands as Minor Threat and Dag Nasty. The self-titled debut album, produced by the legendary Tom Werman, followed a grittier hard rock path than the punk roots of the members. The follow-up was more of the same raunchy music, and just before it's release Todd Muscat (Decry/Kill For Thrills) replaced Anthony.

A third album was recorded but never officially released as the band was dropped from their recording contract (it has since been bootlegged under the name of XXX and The Joker). The writing was on the wall for the group went their seperate ways. A live album was released in early 2000, and the band began to do a few live shows in America and Japan with Tim Mosher replacing Baker. A mini album of new and old songs was released in 2003 and most recently they released "Put It On Ten..." a collection of early demos and covers that capture the band in it's true raw element, plus a live DVD recorded in 1989.

While Rev it Up and Go Go is the second solo record from Jackyl singer Jesse James Dupree, he didn’t go it alone on the 20 tracks of crunchy rock, cool country and old-timey radio show revelry. “This record is so much Dixie Inc. I couldn’t have made this record without these guys; their songs, playing, suggestions and collaboration,” Dupree says. Enter Dixie Inc., a collection of players who were friends and fans of each other, brought together for a Thanksgiving feast and jam that turned into Rev It Up and Go Go. Dixie Inc. is bassist Roman Glick (Brother Cane, Jackyl); drummer Mike Froedge (DoubleDrive, Speed X); guitarist Charlie Star of Blackberry Smoke fame; and features Richard (guitar) and Fred (drums) Young of the Grammy-winning Kentucky Headhunters.

Proof of Dixie Inc.’s and chops and chemistry? Just check the videos for the wild musical ride “Money Lovin’ and Speed” and the greasy grooves of “Bite.” It’s clear that Dixie Inc. is a fortuitous collaboration.—as Rev It Up and Go Go’s entry into the Top 40 rock chart proves. Glick is the only member of Jackyl who joins James in Dixie Inc., and he recalls the 2007 sessions that resulted in Rev It Up… “Jesse would call and say ‘come over, let’s work on some riffs.’ It was just fun for the sake of it. But last Thanksgiving it just went crazy, and Jesse started calling other friends, Richard and Fred, and Mike and Charlie. We had no clue what we were going to do; we’d work through the ideas. I brought in the tune ‘1095 Days.’ By the third time we played each song, we were done recording. That’s how incredible the players are on this record. Charlie, and I’ll go on record with this is probably the best guitar player I’ve ever played with in my life.” Mike Froedge concurs: “Roman and I locked it up instantly, and the writing and recording was totally guerilla style. We were able to work fast, think fast; it was like recording a rehearsal or show.” Charlie Star of Atlanta Southern rockers Blackberry Smoke says his fretwork in Dixie Inc. is “louder and wilder,” than his usual style, “because Jesse brings that out in everybody! And we each brought in a different set of influences. The song ‘Tank,’ begins with a dobro and a slide, and Jesse and I were hanging around the studio very late night, and I think a lot of Pabst Blue Ribbon had been imbibed. I was fiddling around, and he came in and set up a mic in the middle of the room; he sang live while I was playing. One take--that was it. It was electrifying.”

Thanks to the kindred musical spirits in Dixie Inc., Rev It Up and Go Go possesses continuity in both the 'Saturday Night' side of the album (rock) and 'Sunday Morning' (country). “Mike and Roman were so in the pocket, and when they come together, it’s such an impactful presence on tracks like ‘Tank’ and ‘Drop Dead Ready’ and ‘Bite,’ raves Dupree. “The two of those guys alone make me want to run through a brick wall.” While the future isn’t written in stone, all involved with Dixie Inc—fans included--look forward to more family-style collaborations and, hopefully, live shows and a tour. As Dupree concludes, “When a record is done, you’re super excited because it’s fresh and new, and it’s your baby. Everyone thinks their baby is the most beautiful thing, but when that baby is a little older, you can step back and realize the truth… But every now and then you have a baby that just may be the prettiest baby in the world. And that’s Dixie Inc and Rev It Up And Go Go.”

Now more than ever, the music scene is in dire need of some raw high-energy rock and roll. And just in time, the Nigel Dupree Band has come to the rescue. Hailing from Kennesaw, Georgia and comprised of members Nigel Dupree (vocals, guitar), Josh Hilton (bass), and Adam Townsend (drums), the group manages to be a throwback of sorts - musically and visually - to such renowned goliaths as KISS, Def Leppard, AC/DC, and Bon Jovi. When asked how the Nigel Dupree Band fits in with current rock bands, the group's frontman exclaims, "I don't think we do at all! We're definitely going against the grain. We're throwing back to the '80s a little bit, and mixing in our own thing. We have a modern sound and we're not indulging ourselves as much as some bands with the stereotypical ?80s image. It's just where we find our influence, and that's what we like to stick with."

Another deciding factor in Nigel choosing his path of rock n' roll is that he's been around some of the genre's biggest names since he was a tiny tot - his dad is none other than Jesse James Dupree, the frontman of Jackyl. "I was fortunate enough to grow up on a tour bus," explains Nigel. "On the road with Aerosmith, the Damn Yankees, Ted Nugent, ZZ Top, and all these great bands. It really helped me set a direction with what I wanted to do in life - be a rock star."

Starting out initially as a band between three high school friends, they quickly realized there was an undeniable chemistry between the members. Dupree describes Hilton as "Our little bit of KISS. He has the make-up and a rock star personality," and Townsend as "A mix between a young Terri Bozzio and Tommy Lee." Jesse soon took it upon himself to oversee the recording of the tunes his son had penned, which landed the trio a deal with Mighty Loud Records, and a debut album, Attraction. "It just comes from wanting to hear good simplicity in a rock song," points out Nigel about the album's background. "So many bands today just overthink what rock n' roll is. We're setting out to remind people that rock n' roll is about having fun and playing some good music." Even though their debut album is just dropping on the masses, the Nigel Dupree Band has been honing their live act for some time now, opening up for some of rock's heaviest hitters. "We've been prepping ourselves for the long road ahead for the last two to three years. We've played with Jackyl, Ace Frehley, Saliva, Black Stone Cherry. From those years of touring, and great connections, we're currently setting up a summer tour which will be starting in early July."

And what can fans expect from the Nigel Dupree Band live experience? Nigel explains, "So many people are skeptical of going out and spending the money on seeing a live band, and we want people to get their money's worth. So we go over the top. No matter where we're playing, in our minds, we're playing to a sold out Madison Square Garden because that's what we want the people watching it to receive. That's what we base the band on - we put on a great live show, high energy."

And lastly, where does Nigel see the group going in the future? "All the way to the top! Success comes with happiness - success and happiness to me is people enjoying what they do and create artistically. If people are into it and love what we do that is success to me. And that's exactly where I want to take it." As evidenced by Attraction, the Nigel Dupree Band has certainly taken a mighty loud n' proud first step.
