A Journey of Empathy and Resilience
Michelle Whiteside’s raw and emotional story of healing from trauma through personal growth was both inspiring and illuminating. Her journey showed how facing darkness within can lead to light for others.
Michelle recounted a difficult past, realizing through therapy that she had endured codependency and abuse. “I didn’t realize my trauma, ADHD, abuse, and all of that,” she said. But hitting rock bottom, empty nest and pandemic gave her a chance to break free. “A lot of things were changing in my life in a very big way,” Michelle noted.
Through schooling, solitude and “peeling the layers,” Michelle began to understand herself. “You start to learn to have empathy for yourself and you start to learn to parent yourself,” she said passionately. This work transformed how she saw her capabilities and purpose. “I was intelligent and capable, and had a big dent to make here on the planet,” Michelle realized.
Now Michelle helps others facing similar struggles through coaching. But her gifts came through her own challenges. “I think the adversity that we go through is really for a bigger purpose,” she mused. Walt wondered why some face darkness yet break through, while others don’t. Michelle believed “we have to go through challenges that become gifts to help somebody else.”
Michelle’s light now shines through helping teens and women. But her gifts emerged as she focused inward. “You can’t give back what you don’t have,” Jodielynn noted wisely. Michelle proved how healing darkness within can illuminate the path ahead, empowering listeners to find purpose through personal growth.
