John Hiltz, President of OHM Advisors speaks to Jeffrey Mosher at the 2019 Mackinac Policy Conference about the roll of OHM in the community. The pair had discussed several topics the previous year covering how John’s team is helping to advance communities being instrumental to infrastructure projects in Michigan and Ohio.

Their company is still concerned with the state of infrastructure and wants to help address the issue and help businesses understand these issue better. He believes that campaigns by Michigan Governor Whitmer have brought it more to the forefront, however roads are only a surface issue, and water, sewer, electricity and even internet are issues that need to be addressed. AND that even when the state gets things in order, local municipalities have infrastructure issues to address as well.

Chris Holman welcomes Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer on to the Michigan Business Beat. They discuss infrastructure, adjustment to her first term leading the state, the prime business topic surrounding talent, and small business.

Mike Price is the Executive Director of the Greater Lansing Sports Authority (GLSA), an organization he helped found in 2005. The GLSA is the leading voice for sport tourism in the Capital region and strives to

generate economic impact through sport, while also improving the quality of life for area residents. The GLSA has also been recognized as a best practice sports commission, having received numerous recognition from the National Association of Sports Commissions, including being recognized as “Sports Commission of the Year”.

The Michigan Lean Consortium's Debra Levantrosser recently spoke with long time 'The Leaning Edge' guest Rob Pease, the Kata/Improvement Manager for Nucraft of Comstock Park, MI.

At Nucraft Furniture Company, Rob shares that they really wanted to transform their culture. First starting with what our desired culture must be to achieve the desired 27% growth over three years and then went to the people. By conducting a cultural assessment or our associates we armed ourselves with the data needed to set short term-plans for improvement. Interestingly, we have figure out a connection to these behaviors to our bottom line financial growth, which as the behaviors improve so does our organizations KPIs. This has provided two record quarters back-to-back. Imagine everyone engaging in an organization and with each layer striving for the desired behaviors which collectively equate to company growth and success. It becomes a great place to work when you focus on respect for every individual, as one example, and the output is company growth.

Castleman disease (CD) is a rare disease of the lymph nodes and related tissues. It is not a cancer but what’s called a lymphoproliferative disorder. World CD Day is Tuesday, July 23. Gordan Srkalovic, M.D., of the Sparrow Herbert-Herman Cancer Center is an expert on the rare disease and has treated these Patients. He discusses what it is and how to treat it, and try to shed light on this unusual malady.
