The Michigan Lean Consortium's Debra Levatrosser learns about "Point of View Thinking" from Ruth Archer, PhD, Director of Continuous Improvement at Michigan Tech University.

Ruth shares how we interact with people is influenced by the stories we tell ourselves about their behavior. We can practice listening in to our thoughts and learn how to recognize and change our thinking for the better by trying to see things from the other person's point of view. Learning to understand, influence, and modify our point of view by seeking the perspective of others not only improves our employee and customer interactions but also improves employee engagement and satisfaction. This makes respect for people and humility, often challenging in organizational culture, suddenly easy, and reduces stress, anger, and frustration in our lives.
