In this episode I am recording in the beautiful mountains of Georgia on the evening of opening day. Today's show features my good buddy Tyler Cook, who I met last year hunting public land down here. This episode is a recap of our successful hunt from opening morning. We located a gobbler on the limb at first light, and shortly after he flew down he went quiet for hours. We ended up keeping tabs on the bird and caught back up with him at about 9:30 am... by 10:30 he was flopping, and we were celebrating. We do a deep dive in this episode of the strategies we implemented to ultimately make the harvest, including calling tactics, set up, positioning and more. Thanks for listening!

In this week's episode I have my good buddy Adam Weaver on the show again. I've had Adam on in the past to discuss turkey hunting tactics. In our last episode, Adam and I discussed locating gobblers, and having multiple plans of attack for different turkeys when one doesn't quite pan out. In this episode, we do a bit more of a deep dive into actual hunting scenarios. We discuss things like when to call and when to shut up, when to sit tight or when to make a move on a bird, taking a turkeys temperature and knowing what types of calling sequences will make you more successful in a specific hunt... and more! Adam is a wealth of turkey hunting knowledge, and I hope you all pull one, if not a few nuggets of information from this episode that will help you harvest a bird this spring! Thanks for listening.

In this week's episode I have Roy Holdford from the "Curl Hunts" youtube channel on the show. Roy is a previous intern for the hunting public, who now runs his own youtube channel where he documents his turkey hunting travels throughout the country while living out of a van! Roy and I discuss some of the unexpected challenges that come with traveling to hunt turkeys, as well as what we love about it. We share several stories of different situations that we've ended up in within turkey hunting travels and how we overcame them. We talk about the things that you need to be prepared for, as well as things you need to educate yourself on before crossing state lines. For the second half of the podcast, we talked about tactics, and how Roy likes to set up, call to and hunt turkeys. I hope this episode helps keeps the anticipation at bay a bit for those of you who aren't in a state that is open yet, or haven't started your spring travels yet. Thanks for listening!

In this episode I have Shane Simpson from the "Calling all Turkeys" youtube channel on the show. Shane is a phenomenal turkey hunter, championship caller, and has been self filming his turkey hunts since he was a kid. Shane and I discussed the importance of realism in your calling from multiple aspects. We discussed how it is important to not only sound realistic, but to call with realistic tendencies. We also talk about knowing when to call, and when not to call, to a gobbler. We discussed calling from realistic locations to replicate a real hen, and how to traverse the woods more stealthy. We touch on the unsung art of woodsmanship, the importance of it and how it can be applied to your set ups when turkey hunting. This was an awesome episode, jam packed with turkey wisdom and I hope you all enjoy!

We also touch on the GNCC calling championship and how impressive some of the callers were that we got to go and watch! If you've never attended this event, I highly recommend you make it a point to get to it at least once! It's incredibly memorable for sure!

In today's episode I have my good buddy Adam Weaver on. Adam is one of the best turkey hunters I know. I've been turkey hunting with Adam for a little over 4 years and he has taught me a ton about turkey behavior, calling and turkey hunting in general. Today Adam and I discussed a multitude of things. We talk a lot about pre-season scouting and what that looks like for him. We discuss locating gobblers, "figuring out what they're doing" in the week leading up to the season, habitat types and types of sign to look for and much more. The main focus of today's episode is a brief overview on tactics. We talk about once you locate that gobbler on opening day, what you actually have to do to close the deal. Adam talks about calling conservatively and utilizing woodsmanship to attain success rather than hammering on a box call or mouth call.. and what that looks like for him. Overall an awesome episode about turkey hunting, and I hope you all take something away from this. Thanks for listening!
