Advent is the beginning of the year on the Christian calendar and is the time in which followers of Christ reflect upon and wait with expectation for the coming of the Christ. This year we are following the lectionary as we celebrate Advent together and begin by looking into Jesus' words to stay awake during difficult and trying times.

MCV Disntinctives is all about those things that we at Mid-City Vineyard want to be really good at as a church both organized and organic. This week we talked about the value of giving things away, specifically about what it looks like to be generous with our money, our lives and our stuff.

As a church, there are a few things that we feel specifically called to be really good at, both as a church organized and organic. This week we talk about what it means to be really good at throwing parties.

Each month that has 5 Sundays, we use that 5th Sunday to have different people who are part of the Mid-City Vineyard Community of faith talk about what kinds of these are going on in their lives and how the Spirit is using the MCV Community in their lives.

In his greatest sermon, Jesus talks about love for enemies, laying down judgmentalism, sexual ethics, and then right in the middle decides to also talk about not worrying or being anxious. The question though, is, what exactly is Jesus saying? Is Jesus saying that if we trust, all of life will go as we want or need? Or is Jesus inviting us into a place of trust that goes much deeper?

It seems that the absolute worst time for God to go quiet would be when we are in the middle of the chaos and yet that seems to be when the Divine most often seems to silent. This week we discuss experiencing and looking for the presence of the Divine even in the middle of the stuff.

This week Kristy talks to us about what it is to live into the love and life of Christ, to be transformed by this love and acceptance and what it looks like to live out of this love. Experience over knowledge is both the key and a gift.
