The Takoradi Habour Circuit Court A presided over by his Worship, Michael Kwadwoe Ampadu, has granted the Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Abdul Mumin Issah, GHS100,000 bail with 3 sureties after pleading not guilty to all three counts of road traffic offenses.

ECOWAS Chairman, President Akufo-Addo, has asked colleagues in the subregion to take a firm and tough decision against countries whose leaders are overthrown in Military coups. President Akufo-Addo believes if such decisions are not taken, the entire subregion could be inundated with military takeovers.

A study by the Ghana Center for Democratic Development, (CDD-Ghana), has shown that nine persons engaged in ‘galamsey’ and fraud funded political parties in the 2020 elections. The study also shows that three major financiers of the political parties are chiefs in the Eastern Region.

The three-member committee set up to investigate the circumstances leading to the explosion at Apeatse has presented its report to the Lands Minister, Samuel Jinapor. The document contains findings and recommendations, among other things, to avert the recurrence of the incident in mining communities.

ECOWAS leaders have expressed worry over what they call deteriorating democracy within the sub region. The leaders say the recent coup in Burkina Faso is a clear example of how democracy is failing in West Africa. Opening a virtual ECOWAS summit, President Nana Akufo-Addo, the ECOWAS chair, urged his colleagues to do all they can to uphold the tenant of democracy in the sub-region.

Commercial banks are making a last-minute appeal for the tax on electronic transactions to be reduced marginally to not more than 1%.
