The winners of the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz competition, Prempeh College, have on Thursday 6 January 2021 presented the trophy to the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at a brief event at the Jubilee House in Accra.

The Enchi District Police have arrested a couple for beating their four-year-old daughter to death for bedwetting. Francisca Etuteh, who was made to sit on hot water, also broke her arm due to the beating, the Police said. The suspects, Effah Donaldson, 34, and Salome Oteku, 27, are said to have caned the deceased till she fell unconscious on Tuesday at Yakase in the Aowin Municipality of the Western North Region.

Effective Tuesday, January 4, 2022, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) will begin the implementation of government’s policy directive on the reversal of the reduction of values of imports on 43 selected items. Otherwise known as the ‘benchmark values’, the reversal will affect the selected items from all the three categories on which the reversal was applied, a statement from the Authority stated.

The Police have announced the arrest of a man seen in a viral video shooting AK47 at A&C Mall to usher in the New Year. A press release on Monday, signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Supt. Alexander Kwaku Obeng said, “A collaboration between the Police and Military Police has led to the arrest of Flt. Sergeant Nicholas Owusu Frimpong in connection with the discharge of a firearm at A&C Mall, East Legon on Friday, December 31, 2021.”

Police at Begoro in the Eastern Region have arrested a 56-year-old man for allegedly murdering his sister on December 27, at Begoro Zongo. Keanu Aboagye was smoked out from his hideout upon a tip-off. According to reports, he is suspected of having inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on Gladys Agyemang, 55, who bled to death.

The Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) led by the Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, has lifted the ban on the operation of beaches amid the yuletide in the region. However, patrons will be expected to show proof of covid-19 vaccination or avail themselves to be vaccinated at the facilities before entry.

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested three Senior High School (SHS) students for allegedly burning and killing a bolt driver who is also a Navy officer at Sekondi Baka-Ano. The suspects, Patrick Baidoo, aged 18, Joseph Lord Nii Adjei Odiku, 17, and Adolf Eshun, 17, are said to have confessed to committing the crime.
