President of the Catholic Bishops Conference, Most Rev Philip Naameh, has revealed that a Christian coalition has set up medical units to help rehabilitate homosexuals. According to him, they are concerned about the welfare of the people, hence the initiative to help homosexuals in society.

Two close female relatives of the President’s District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee for Wa West Municipal Assembly, have collapsed. The incident happened on Wednesday after the nominated DCE, Ali Bukari was rejected by the 41-member Assembly. He polled 15 yes votes and 26 no votes.

Three persons, including two students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), have been reported dead in an explosion at the Juaben Oil Mills in the Ashanti Region.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says he will not support any of the aspirants seeking to lead the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2024 election. President Akufo-Addo insists that until the party elects a presidential candidate, he will not support anybody.

President Akufo-Addo has defended contractors working on a number road construction projects in the Ashanti Region. This comes after concerns of residents in some areas about the constant lull in the progress of work, leading to further deterioration of the road.

Many parts of the country have experienced heavy rainfall with some regions enduring up to six hours of the downpour on Friday, October 1. Roads have been rendered impassable with their resultant heavy traffic in the capital, Accra. The areas affected included Kaneshie First Light, Dansoman Junction among other adjoining areas. In the Central Region, the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital was not spared. Some wards were flooded leaving patients on admission stranded while health personnel struggle to attend to them.

Some residents of the former refugee camp at Buduburam in the Gomoa East Municipality of the Central Region have massed up at the frontage, vowing to resist a planned shutdown of the facility. Following concerns raised by chiefs and opinion leaders that the camp has become a den for criminals, the government, through the Gomoa East District Assembly gave the residents a September 30 deadline to vacate the area.

Spokesperson for the family of social activist, Ibrahim Mohammed, aka Kaaka says the bereaved family is not pleased with some conclusions drawn by the three-member committee set up to probe the Ejura protest that led to the loss of two lives, with respect to Kaaka’s death.
