The West African Examination Council (WAEC) says it has uncovered a new strategy of examination malpractice where some candidates conceal money and contact numbers in answer booklets in a bid to influence their exam results.WAEC's Head of Corporate Affairs, John Kapi, who made this known pointed out that, measures have been put in place to prevent all forms of examination malpractice.

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has reiterated his stance on ex-gratia payments to Article 71 officeholders, insisting it no longer serves its intended purpose. According to him, the original intention behind ex-gratia payments for certain public servants and political officeholders was to combat corruption, but this is no longer the case in the current dispensation.

Hammond to regulate cement prices, cement manufacturers have announced their intention to increase prices. The former Vice Chair of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association, Dr Stephen Debrah-Ablormeti, who disclosed this, noted that cement prices had already risen by GH₵10.00 in May, and it is set to increase by an additional GH₵12.00 effective July 1.

Manufacturers of cement products could be liable to up to three years in jail if they flout certain provisions of the Legislative Instrument (L.I.) being proposed by Trade Minister, K.T Hammond.
