Ever look at your Human Design chart and think, "Okay⦠but what the hell am I actually looking at?" What are all those shapes, colors, lines, and numbers?
In this Human Design 101 episode, we're going back to the basics so you can understand what you're looking at when you pull up your chart, what all those shapes and numbers mean, and where to start experimenting.
And there's an important piece here: Human Design isn't meant to become another system that tells you who you're supposed to be. It's an experiment. Your chart gives you places to get curious, try things out, and notice what actually helps you come back to yourself.
Key takeaways:
Why your Human Design chart may look different depending on where you get it
What those nine shapes in the bodygraph represent
Where the gates and channels come from, and how they create the color in your chart
What those four arrows at the top are telling you about your design
Why your exact birth time matters more than you might think
What the different arrow directions can reveal
Why there is no "better" Human Design chart, and what that means for your experiment
How all of these pieces start to come together when you're making big midlife decisions
If you've been listening to the podcast and still feel like you're "lost in the sauce" when you look at your chart, this episode is a good place to start.

You want to quit your job. Leave your relationship. Move somewhere warm. Start a business. Change your body. Blow up your life and start over.
And maybe you really do need a big change.
But before you make one, there's another question worth asking: What do you actually want to feel?
In this episode, Lori Lisai explores the underlying desires beneath those big midlife urges.
Human Design can help you sort through the desire, conditioning, and midlife chaos so you can make decisions from your own authority rather than reacting to what you think you're supposed to do.
In this episode:
The question to ask before making a major midlife change
Why "when I have X, I'll feel Y" can reveal what you're really seeking
How Human Design authority can help you discern your next move
Where conditioning may be influencing what you think you want
How to experiment with one-degree pivots
When a big change really may be necessary
The goal isn't to talk yourself out of what you want. Your desires matter. The goal is to understand what they're telling you so you can move toward the life you actually want, one decision at a time.

What if the feeling you're having is real... but it doesn't necessarily mean you need to do something about it?
In Part 2 of this series on Human Design and emotional waves, Lori Lisai explores what happens when emotional energy intersects with perimenopause and menopause. Hormonal changes can heighten sensitivity, change our reactions, lower our tolerance for bullshit, and make it harder to recognize what is actually happening in our bodies.
Human Design doesn't explain your hormones, but it can give you a framework for understanding your body's patterns and your own decision-making process.
Lori digs into the difference between having a defined or undefined Solar Plexus, how emotional waves can amplify the meaning we attach to everyday situations, and why a mood doesn't always need to be fixed, explained, or turned into a decision.
Most importantly, she gives you a simple process for figuring out what the hell is actually going on:
β’ What are you experiencing physically in your body? β’ What meaning are you immediately giving that sensation? β’ Is this yours, or are you picking up someone else's energy? β’ If you have emotional authority, where are you on your wave? β’ Do you need to communicate right now, or do you need to wait?
You'll also hear practical examples of communicating your needs to the people you love, allowing yourself time before making big decisions, and recognizing when a recurring feeling deserves deeper attention.
Your body is communicating with you. The work is learning how to listen without immediately turning every sensation into a story.
If you're ready to understand your own Human Design and how it intersects with what's actually happening in your life, that's exactly the kind of work Lori does with women in private readings and coaching.

You feel a certain way and that must mean something, right? Maybe not..exactly. Today, Lori dives into the difference between feelings and emotions, the four types of emotional waves and how to discern well enough to make the big decisions that come as a part of midlife.
The goal isn't to dismiss your emotions or convince yourself that what you're feeling isn't real. It's to develop enough awareness to separate the physical experience of emotion from the story your mind creates about it and, if you have an emotional wave, learn to recognize where you are within that wave.

Homework:
Pull up your Human Design chart and look at your Emotional Solar Plexus.
Is it defined or undefined?
If it's defined:
Start tracking it.
Bonus: track where you're at in your cycle and how your body feels alongside it.
Today, Lori honors Dolly Parton by exploring several pieces of Dolly's Human Design and what they can teach us as midlife women about energy, creativity, self-trust, identity, experimentation, and working with the limitations life gives us. Dolly was a Sacral Generator with the 3-60 channel of Mutation, and Lori explores the incredible creative force that can emerge when we learn to work with our own energy and cycles rather than constantly pushing ourselves to produce.
From Dolly's unapologetic approach to her appearance and persona to her willingness to experiment, learn, evolve, and become a role model through her lived experience, this episode is an invitation to look at your own Human Design differently.
Key Takeaways:
*How are you using your creative life force?
*How are you using your authority?
*How can limitations help your creativity?
*How Dolly's sense of humor helped her deflect criticism
*What Dolly teaches us about an undefined G center

Who are you when the role you've spent years building your life around begins to change?
Midlife can bring a strange combination of grief, freedom, excitement, and uncertainty. Kids leave home. Careers shift. Relationships evolve. Our bodies change. And suddenly we're left asking a question we may not have had to ask in decades: Who am I now?
In this episode, Lori explores the identity shifts that come with midlife and the temptation to immediately fill the empty spaces with something new. Instead, she invites you to slow down, feel what's ending, get curious about what's emerging, and use Human Design as a tool for reconnecting with your own energy, authority, desires, and sense of self.
You don't have to have your next chapter figured out. You just have to be willing to meet the woman who's emerging.

Have you ever wanted to make a change in your life, but found yourself thinking about what your partner, kids, parents, friends, coworkers, or everyone else might think? Sometimes the thing standing between us and the life we want isn't a lack of desire. It's the expectations we've absorbed from the people around us and the ways we've learned to keep ourselves comfortable, acceptable, and easy to live with.
In this episode, Lori shares a six-part roadmap for becoming the woman you actually want to be, even while you're in relationship with other people. This isn't about blowing up your life or ignoring the people you love. It's about deciding that your desires matter, getting specific about the life you're creating, and learning how to take small, intentional steps toward it.

Sometimes people really are assholes. π And sometimes the thing that's pissing us off about someone else is pointing directly at something we haven't wanted to look at in ourselves.
As eclipse season stirs things up, Lori is diving into the messy, uncomfortable territory of projection, shadow work, accountability, and self-leadership. When someone projects their fears, feelings, or patterns onto us, how do we discern what actually belongs to them and what is ours to examine? And when we're triggered, how can we use the experience as information rather than immediately deciding who's right and who's wrong?
With the Leo solar eclipse as the backdrop, Lori explores the shadow and light of Leo energy: the desire to be seen, recognized, and special, but also the ways we can suppress our own visibility and resent people who confidently take up space. She connects this to Human Design Strategy and Authority and the practice of coming back to what you actually know to be true for yourself rather than getting swept up in someone else's story about you.
And because this is midlife, there's another layer. Sometimes the discomfort is a sign that the identity, relationships, roles, and expectations we've carried for years are no longer fitting. Midlife can crack us open enough to question what we actually want, what we're willing to carry, and who we're becoming.
This episode is an invitation to stop asking only, "Who's at fault?" and start asking, "What's mine here?" Because self-leadership doesn't mean accepting everyone else's projections as truth. It means learning to recognize what isn't yours, take responsibility for what is, and use even the uncomfortable moments as an opportunity for growth.
