Returning to Earth, we find ourselves near Geneva at CERN labs to explore theories that work on the hadron collider may some how be effecting the fabric of space and time. From there, we’ll go down south to Georgia to investigate the recent destruction of the legendary Guidestones and just how it may connect to several of our stories this evening. Finally, we bring it back to the bluegrass for our Spotlight Sighting where we’ll dive in to supposed security cam footage of a tall gaunt humanoid creature near Morehead, Kentucky. Since the inception of the comic book medium, aliens, monsters, and extra-dimensional entities have always been stars of the color soaked page. This commitment of ethereal to panel, a pop culture reiteration of otherworldly phenomena continually finding a prominent place in the folklore of various cultures since the dawn of human history. Tonight on Midnight in Kentucky, we speak with comic aficionado and owner of the Bluegrass state’s largest comic book store, Jason Stephens, as well as folklorist and editor of Kentucky Folklife Digital Magazine, Delainey Bowers- who together host the podcast Comic Virgin. When not immersed in graphic novels, however, Delainey and Jason have also embarked on several investigations of the supernatural, paranormal, and out-and-out weird over the years. In this episode we discuss the through line between comics, folklore, and the phenomena at large, a few of Delainey and Jason’s more profound encounters with the unexplained, the ontological nature of the phenomena itself, and much more. Join us on our strange travels once again Nightowls, as we go in conversation with Jason Stephens and Delainey Bowers, on an episode straight out of a comic book, the MIK x Comic Virgin crossover event of the summer!

The Cryptid Studies Institute is a fellowship of dedicated, ethical, non kill researchers, founded by father and son team, Johnny and Elijah Henderson, and the entire Henderson family, who strive daily in an environment friendly, fellow human being friendly, animal friendly, benevolent manner to further the study and understanding of wild life creatures that have yet to be documented into the fossil record. On this episode of Midnight in Kentucky, in conversation with Elijah Henderson, we discuss the family’s ancestor’s experiences with a Sasquatch like entity in the mountains of eastern Tennessee, along with several other strange encounters leading to the founding of the Cryptid Studies Institute, as well his findings of connections between the creature commonly know as dogman, the Bell Witch, and The Salem Witch Trails, and of course, the legendary inhabitants of The Land Between the Lakes in Western Kentucky. Additionally, we talk about the theory that a family in the LBL area stricken with lycanthropy is responsible for the sightings of werewolf like creatures, as well as a possible ongoing conflict between Sasquatch and Dogmen, and the history of upright canids and humans throughout time and around the world. Tonight, join Midnight in Kentucky and the Cryptid Studies Institute as we explore the hills, hollers, valleys, and lake shores of Appalachia in search of what stalks these dark and bloody grounds.

There is a world just on the other side of the one we know. It speaks to us in signs and synchronicities, uncanny coincidence, and encounters with that which we believe to be impossible in the realms we call our own. Listen closely, Nightowls, these are Transmissions from the Abyss!

As someone who has crisscrossed the US time and again, Ean Connelly is well aware of the weird undercurrents that run just under the surface of the cultural mainstream. From an early age it seems as though the otherworldly has been in contact with Ean through many different faces of the phenomena. From a dogman encounter at a New Jersey Boy Scout camp and a spectral disembodied head on a bookshelf in his childhood room, to a pair of glowing red eyes watching from the wood’s surrounding one of America’s most infamous battlefields and an experience with something that can only be called demonic in nature, Ean has been privy to his fair share of the strange and superbly supernatural. On this first episode of our Patreon exclusive series, we discuss all of these eerie ethereal encounters, just why Ean may be prone to these kinds of otherworldly interactions, and so much more, with the witness himself, tonight on Midnight in Kentucky’s Transmissions from the Abyss!

Lynn Hightower is not only a prolific writer and New York TImes Bestseller, but a bluegrass native who spins prose on both her weird Kentucky home and its strange otherworldly inhabitants like no other. From intense spiritual and paranormal thrillers like Even in Darkness and The Piper, to her extra-terrestrial tinged Elaki series, including titles Alien Eyes and Alien Rites, Lynn has always delved into worlds of high strangeness and conspiracy in her works. Her latest however, brings the cosmic war of good and evil right back home to Lexington, Kentucky. Tonight on MIK, we sit down with Hightower to discuss The Enlightenment Project, a story detailing the trials and tribulations of Lexington neurosurgeon and possession survivor, Noah Archer, as he battles his way, alongside his best friend and priest Perry Cavanaugh, and his wife Moira, to save the souls of those he himself may have damned to the clutches of dark and demonic forces, who once laid claim to Noah's own. In this episode we touch on everything from the real life exorcisms that served as Hightower's inspiration and so called 'angel' possessions, to Lynn's own writing process, which involves what some more parnormally inclined folks may refer to as channeling, and why she believes a work of writing is an entity all its own. So grab the holy water, summon your angels, and prepare yourself spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, for Midnight in Kentucky in conversation with Lynn Hightower!
