June 21, 2018Special Episode: Jérémy PaillerSpecial Wednesday episode for Thursday! Jérémy Pailler is an illustrator, visual artist/researcher in visual arts at the LARA audiovisual research laboratory in Toulouse. He has written a dissertation on animation and is active in the fields of children's books, movie posters, video clips, personal film projects and film projects. exhibitions. Jérémy's bio-sonifications are quite a bit 'calmer' than that of Nervous Hunter (what's in a name?!) perhaps due to his approach and practice? While you listen and contemplate Jérémy's bio-sonifications please take a look at his incredible illustrations. http://www.jeremypailler.com...more25minPlay
June 21, 2018Special Episode: Nervous HunterSpecial Wednesday episode for Thursday! Nervous Hunter is here in Iceland from Montreal. Sophie Gee, director/playwright/artist. Sophie has many things going on at once, a lot to interpret, decipher and choreograph thus, her electrical impulses were coming in off the charts! A wall of energy. Nervous Hunter is the name under which Sophie Gee presents theatre/installation work created in collaboration and solo. The pieces are mostly creation. The name is taken from the impulse to hunt, an impulse that is followed despite nervousness and fear. Many of the works are site-specific and immersive. Nervus Hunter invites the public to join her in the hunt.Nervous – the system that conveys impulses and sensations between the spinal cord and our bodies.http://nervoushunter.com...more32minPlay

June 09, 2018episode X: Kenaf SubstrateGreetings from Iceland! Mycelium is growing on Kenaf substrate, I hooked up electrodes this evening and am surprised by the activity. Perhaps it has to do with the constant light here? Almost 24/hr sun, it is very tricky to block out. Thank you SO much for listening :) Hope you will subscribe or follow our Midnight Mushroom Music podcast. Instagram: @nanopodstudio @MothAntler xo...more42minPlay
June 03, 2018Episode 9: Elf rockGreetings from Iceland! For tonight’s episode I hiked to the sea cliffs, much to the Arctic Tern’s chagrin! They are currently nesting and highly protective. Understandable considering how far they’ve flown to nest! Meanwhile, I did my best to assure them that I was not after their eggs and continued on my way…. looking for the perfect Elf rock. Once settled in I carefully placed the electrodes onto a couple of different lichen growing over the boulder. The wind was wild around me. The electrical impulses of the lichen and/or possibly seismic activity happening within the boulder (?) was translated to Midi and brought into AniMoog. Enjoy and thanks for tuning in to Midnight Mushroom Music....more19minPlay
May 27, 2018Episode 8Episode 8: Rhuthmos and hooking up fruiting bodies. :) This Mycelium was grown for the Toronto Science Rendezvous and has been kept in a humidity chamber since that event. Now strange fruiting bodies have emerged. Tonight's episode 8: Rhuthmos explores these sonically. From June 2nd thru August 11th Nanotopia will be Podcasting live from Iceland. First stop: Nes Artist Residency. I am teaching workshops at Nes and exploring bio-materials while sonically exploring local Bryophytes, algae and plankton. Mycelium from Gro Bio is traveling with me (in substrate form) and while I am there I intend to grow this Mycelium, collaborate muscially with it and later experiment with Grow Bio's new sculpting nutrient. Hope you will tune-in and float along with our Mycelium Network! Images will be posted @MothAntler and @nanopodstudio on Instagram and Twitter. xo...more31minPlay
May 20, 2018Episode 7: SciRen pt2Episode 7: SciRen pt2 picks up where we left off last weekend during the Science Rendezvous in Toronto. The 'percolating' sounds are the Bryophytes while the more rhythmic patterns are of the Mycelium. In between, you will occasionally hear blips, bleeps and bloops. These sounds are coming from the Humans that bravely allowed us to hook them up into the Network. While not extraordinarily musical perhaps interesting. Thanks again for tuning in! Next Saturday's episode features the Mycelium with Moog's new Sub-Harmonicon. Part of Nanotopia is currently attending Moogfest. Yay for them! ;)...more25minPlay
