Philippians 1:27-30. Paul's first command to the church he loved so much was to "live up to what they say they believe." It's an important first command because hypocrisy keeps people from following Jesus, but living up to what we say we believe moves people to want to follow Jesus with us.

Philippians 1:12-26. How do we find stable joy that is not attached to our circumstances? It comes from anchoring our hopes to Jesus who is stable. It comes from living for Christ more than for comfort, success, security, relationships, religion, or anything else.

Philippians 1:1-11. Paul was filled with joy because of his partnership in the gospel with the Philippians. Gospel partnership brought meaning to his life. So what exactly is gospel partnership? Who gets to be a gospel partner, and how are they qualified to do so?

The good news proclaimed by the angels was for "all people." When the expert in the law asked, "who is my neighbor," Jesus told him a story about "all people."

Normally at Christmas we exchange gifts with friends and family members. What instead we focused on giving gifts? Meaning, giving to those in need who are not able to give anything back to us.

When we think of Christmas, we usually think of presents. We often thoughtlessly purchase presents for people without really thinking about what people really want and need. What if this year we focused more on giving our "presence" to people than giving "presents" to people?

What will you worship this Christmas season? Jesus said you can't worship God and money. Christmas is a story of God coming to the poor and marginalized, the type of people God has always loved. What if we determined this season to care for the poor and marginalized instead of getting caught up in the consumerism of the season?
