Dan Rockwell and Michelle Gatchell talk to recent OSU Grad Addam Jensen about Tech Startup Holocron. 

Holocron Technologies was one of six Ohio State student startup ventures chosen for the inaugural President’s Buckeye Accelerator cohort. The yearlong program, directed by Ohio State’s Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship, provides the teams with $50,000 in funding as well as mentorship, skill-building, and community to help prepare them to launch their businesses.  

Addam shared the journey that has led him to completing his first seed round of 1.6 million.  He talks about their focus being on science and technology intelligence. Using publicly available information to create an assessment, in near real time using natural language processing, of what exactly our peers are developing and how do we compare that to where we are as a nation? He talks about how it can be used by both public and private entities. His story about fund raising is a good one for people to hear. The tech he is developing shows the momentum of the midwest at its best.

Michelle Gatchell and Dan Rockwell are joined by JNA Bread Fonder Jacquelyn Hill. She sells breads at the Clintonville, OH farm market and has been doing so for several years. Disclosure, Michelle has been buying her breads for years, and says the Ginger Pear and the Mixed Greens and Orange Tea Loaves are something she looks forward to over and over.  Jacquelyn shares how selling at a farm market is fun because you get direct customer feed back, plus you form a community with other vendors that sell there. This means you learn from each other and are able to adapt to customer needs in short turn-around times.  Tune in to hear her origin story, it is not your typical one and in fact, she entered the business world rather reluctantly at friends requests. But she says she is so glad she did, and loves her life and business now.
