The Stang Gang Podcast for Tuesday, May 19 features Midwestern State softball All American Elena Bennett. Bennett culminated a stellar career at Midwestern State by claiming the 2013 Marie Morgan Award which is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female student-athletes. She earned second-team All-America honors from the National Fast-pitch Coaches’ Association and Daktronics through the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America following a sensational sophomore campaign when she helped the Mustangs advance to the national semifinals. The four-time All-Lone Star Conference performer graduated as the program’s all-time leader with a .396 batting average, 43 sacrifice hits, 124 stolen bases and 82 multiple-hit games. She was also second in scored with 174 and total hits at 265. Bennett teaches art and is the assistant softball coach at her alma mater Creekview High School in Carrollton after graduating from Midwestern State in 2013.
