Walkley award-winner Peter Ryan has died aged 64 in Sydney, leaving a significant legacy as an ABC journalist.
During his 45 years of service at the ABC, he reported as a Washington correspondent and was known for his extensive coverage of business and finance news.
His investigative report exposing the Commonwealth Bank’s money-laundering scandal won him a Walkley award and led to the creation of the Banking Royal Commission.
Journalist Nick Grimm, who worked with Peter Ryan for almost three decades, describes his former colleague and friend as a ‘fierce warrior’ against injustice who left the world a ‘much better place’.
